Up for auction is this beautiful 1978 Ford Ranger Lariat Short Bed with COLD air conditioning (R-134), a tilt steering wheel, power steering and power brakes. The 351M engine has only 3,258 miles on it since it was completely rebuilt and balanced at a cost of over $4,600 (have receipts). Add-ons are: a Holly 600CFM carburetor, an Edelbrock High Rise “Performer 400” intake manifolds (see picture #11) and Headman Headers with new dual Flowmaster mufflers (Sounds Great). The C6 transmission works fine and has a fluid cooler. The truck has air shocks on the rear axle. Picture #18 shot at engine idle with approximately 13 volts DC and 60+pounds of oil pressure. The majority of the paint is in ideal condition with the exception of the clear coat on the roof and a couple of other places. There are three small areas of surface rust, see pictures number 22 above driver's door, 23 above passenger's door and 24 behind passenger's door at bottom. For a 36 year old truck it is in remarkably good condition. I have owned it since 1996 and put in an excess of $15,000 plus personal labor into it. I have kept it protected in my garage the vast majority of the years I have owned it. I can proudly say that anywhere it goes it is admired for it's looks and the way it sounds. It is rare to find a truck of this vintage that needs so little cosmetic work to make it a real show stopper at the Saturday night drive-in.
