Ice Cold A/C 20mpg City / 29mpg Hwy Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2001 Audi A4. It has the 1.8L turbo 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission. This one is front wheel drive. I’ve been using this as a daily driver for about the past month and it runs great. The engine does not make any unusual noises, and does not overheat. It is a quick car, with plenty of power. The transmission shifts up and down through all the gears without any grinding. The clutch is strong. It engages high up in the pedal travel, but I’ve found this to be common to all manual A4s I’ve driven. Some people prefer this so that they don’t have to push it all the way to the floor to change gears. I’m not a fan, but there is a way to adjust it on the pedal mechanism under the dash if you check the Audi forums. On the road the car feels solid and the suspension is firm, but not harsh. As with any German luxury brand, it drives beautifully on the highway, comfortably and quietly cruising at 70mph+, but the turbo engine, manual transmission and tight suspension make it a blast on curvy back-roads as well. The brakes are strong, and stop the car on a dime. Best of all, this car sips gas. The exterior of the car is in good shape for the age. There is no rust. The white paint almost glows. It does not have any noticeable damage, and no large chips or peeling clearcoat or fading. There is the occasional little ding or scratch that is to be expected for the age, and I did notice that one of the trunk hinges is broken and should be replaced. The alloy wheels look good and the tires all have good tread. The lights and wipers all work. The windows are tinted, so the car has a very classy look from the outside. The black and white interior looks very smart, and is also in good shape. There are driver, passenger and side-curtain airbags. The leather seats are clean and supportive, but there is a small split on the driver’s seat (pictured). The carpets could use a vacuum, but are in decent shape, without any tears. The mats are missing. The dash is clean and does not have any cracks or broken fascia pieces. There are power mirrors, windows, sunroof and locks, plus a built in garage door opener on the ceiling. The headliner is in decent shape, but in the rear corners it is just starting to sag a little bit. The heater works, and the A/C is ice cold and will freeze you out on the hottest day. Cruise control is present. The factory radio/CD player works. The only problems I’ve found with the interior pieces are that the cup holder on the dash will not fully close. It opens and holds cups normally, but when you push it back into the dash, it goes 95% of the way in and then jams. Also, the door panel handles are moderately scratched and stained, which is something that is common among all older VW and Audi cars. On the dash, all of the lights and gauges work. The check engine light is on. I had the code read, and it was P0411: Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected. Looking online, this is due to do the emissions system, and doesn’t otherwise affect the car’s performance, and it is a common problem that could be a bad combi-valve or pump, but is often just a vacuum line that has become brittle and needs replacement. It looks relatively simple to examine and fix according to online info. I had the code cleared, but it came back after a week days. The “low window washer fluid” light is on, but the washer fluid is full, so the fluid level sensor on the tank may need to be replaced. Occasionally when I get out of the car I catch a faint whiff of fuel vapor. I don’t know if it may be related to the air injection system (?), but the car does not have any leaks that I can see, and I have not been able to locate the source of the smell. This Audi A4 would make a really nice car for someone. It is in good shape for its age, is reliable, is very fun to drive, looks great, and gets very good gas mileage. With the 1.8L turbo engine, you can find a VW/Audi tuner shop to do some mods, or just leave it as it is and enjoy it. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a long trip. It runs well, so any bidder would be able to drive it any distance home. This car is not perfect, it is does have a few problems, and I have described those problems that I have found. Those do appear to be relatively minor, and a good mechanic or a competent DIY owner should be able to fix them. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid.
