Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car about 25 years ago. It has been garage kept as long as I have had it. I used to think that the odometer must have flipped over, but since I've owned it, I have only driven it 7-8,000 miles and the odometer works, so now I'm not so sure. This car was pea green originally. The last owner had it painted a burgundy metallic. I removed almost all of the paint, epoxy primered it and painted it pearl white using silver pearl with a hint of gold pearl about 8 years ago. It's a little unique because the gold hue comes out in certain lighting and angles. It is NOT a show car, but it is a great, reliable driver. I see no evidence where it was ever wrecked. The body is fairly well aligned all around and the T-tops don't leak. The rear window is removable and seals up tight. The engine was replaced about 15 years ago after a "mechanic" totally flubbed a valve seal job (long story) and the numbers don't match. The engine is very strong though and has electronic ignition. The air conditioning system is all new, every component including the console selector, and has the new style freon. It blows good cold air. All of the weather stripping on the car was replaced five years ago by a first rate trim shop. I added aftermarket side pipes on it a few years ago and replaced the rear valance so that there weren't holes where the standard exhaust belonged. The seats, door panels, dash pad, t-top headliners, sun visors, carpeting and radio have all been replaced. The brakes are like new as are the tires and battery. The bumpers were replaced about 10 years ago and have lost some of their shine, but are still nice looking. There are some faults as this is a 42 year old car, but they are all superficial or cosmetic and do not affect its performance: The frame had a rust hole at the bottom behind the left rear wheel. I had it repaired at a weld shop 20 years ago and have had no trouble since. While there, they reinforced the right side in the same spot. The car has passed PA state inspection every year since without any comment. There is some rust on the underside, but no holes. The gauge cluster is looking somewhat tired as seen in photos. The battery gauge does not match the others and the clock does not work. The paint, which is base coat/clear coat has some minor fish eye in places. It probably could be buffed out but it is fairly flat and shiny and looks good enough for me. The battery compartment lid is no longer attached to the hinge and just sits on the box. The carpet in the storage area is original and though black, its pile does not match the carpet on the floors. The lens on the courtesy light in this compartment is missing. The rear view mirror is getting a little fogged around the perimeter, but still very usable. The panels on the backs of the seats are not perfect, but a little paint would go along way in improving their looks. The paint job in the door jambs is a little rough, but looks okay where mostly seen. There are signs of rusting on the pillars, but they appear to be solid. The engine compartment has had no spiffing up done on it whatsoever, but still looks pretty good. One front marker light is discolored. I've done lots of research while attempting to set a value for this car. I've seen lots of cobbled together junkers. I promise you that this car is NOT one of those. You can drive this car home trouble-free anywhere after purchase. Photos don't do it justice. You are welcome to come by an see it for yourself or to take it for a test drive.
