They not only describe this particular car but also some history of the make/model, considerations in buying a classic car and facts about our firm. However, we continually hear from out of state / out of country buyers (many of our clients) that they prefer the level of detail that we provide. However, if you are not prepared to read the full listing, please read the OVERVIEW below along with the PHOTOGRAPHS at the bottom. If you'd prefer, please call us at 925-846-1451 and we'll gladly discuss the Corvette and answer any questions over the telephone, including our "Buy it Now" policy. Yes, the Corvette can be purchased prior to the end of the eBay auction. PHOTOGRAPHS PLEASE NOTE: EACH TIME WE LIST A VEHICLE ON EBAY WE RECIEVE COMMENTS THAT THERE ARE NO PHOTOS OF THE INTERIOR, ENGINE, UNDERCARRIAGE, ETC. OF THE CAR. THERE ARE CLOSE TO 100 PHOTOS OF ALL AREAS OF THIS CORVETTE, BUT WHEN YOU REACH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE LAST PHOTO, YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL DOWN ON eBay TO VIEW THE REMAINING PHOTOS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE THEM, PLEASE CALL US AT 925-846-1451 AND WE WILL PROVIDE A DIRECT LINK. NOTE: IT IS A VIOLATION OF EBAY POLICY FOR US TO LIST THE URL ON THE EBAY LISTING. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS OF ANY PART OF THE CORVETTE. ALL OF OUR PHOTOS ARE TAKEN IN NATURAL LIGHT AND WE DO NOT "PHOTO-SHOP" OR TOUCH-UP THE PHOTOS IN ANY WAY. INTRODUCTION This car is offered at a realistic price and, unlike bidding on cars in an auction environment, you will have the benefit of extensive information and history on the car prior to making a buying decision. Equally as important is the fact that Classic Cars Ltd. has been in business for 21+ years and enjoys an excellent national / international relationship with nearly 800 positive eBay feedback responses. Please keep in mind that we will gladly... 1. Answer any questions over the telephone and take the time to guide prospective customers through the buying process (925-846-1451). 2. Assist with locating a quality, suitable transporter at very competitive prices. 3. Provide proof that we are licensed, bonded (for the financial transaction), fully insured, and operate from an established showroom environment. 4. Provide feedback from previous buyers, and specific references for vehicle purchases in your area (we also ask that you view our detailed eBay feedback by clicking on the number to the right of the eBay user name) 5. Offer additional information including specific photographs or clarification of any part of our description of the vehicle Thank you again, please let me know if I can be of assistance. Happy "eBaying"! Paul R. Wankle, Pres. Classic Cars Ltd. Pleasanton, CA 925-846-1451 IMPORTANT NOTES: - Later in the listing we show a number of undercarriage and suspension photos to support the fact that this car did not have frame damage as a result of the cosmetic damage that occurred on the street. - The cars owner placed numbers ("Meatballs') on the car for street use as he does on virtually all of his car but this car DID NOT get damaged on the track nor was it used as a race or track car. - We encourage independent inspections of the car to confirm its quality and feel it is important to emphasize that the cosmetic (and mechanical components) of the car are exceptional. The paint and body work was done to the highest factory quality standard and any replacement panels were OEM. OVERVIEW-THIS PARTICULAR 2008 LIMITED EDITION WIL COOKSEY Z06 Chevrolet produced only 505 total (427 for North America) 2008 Limited Edition Wil Cooksey Z06s and they have become highly prized. Although fitted with base Z06 mechanical components, the paint, interior, wheels and badging make for a standout appearance that pays homage to the big block Stingrays of the mid 60's. This particular car was originally sold in San Jose, CA and has spent its entire life in California. Although it has a salvage title due to an incident in 2009, the repairs were properly and professionally performed by one of California's premier restoration facilities with a long history of restoring vintage, exotic and highly specialized automobiles. Because of the title status, this is an incredible opportunity to own this very special Z06 at an attractive price, well below market. In addition to this blazing base Z06 performance, the Limited Edition Wil Cooksey Z06 has many special features as detailed below. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE 2008 LIMITED EDITION WIL COOKSEY Z06 The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Limited Edition Z06 is a special-edition car meant to honor the fabled big block 427 Stingrays of the 60's. Like every other special-edition Vette in recent years, the upgraded trim package results in a unique color-Crystal Red Tintcoat-and limited edition wheels, badging and interior. To the hood on the Z06, already reminiscent of the "stinger" hood on the 1967 Corvette Sting Ray 427, the 427 Limited Edition adds a black stripe and "427" badges meant to mimic the old Vette. Other exterior modifications include unique spider chrome wheels, a body-color spoiler (instead of the standard Z06's black one), and body-color trim on the door handles. All Limited Edition Z06s come with the 3LZ Preferred Equipment package in a special dark titanium color. The seats and the floor mats have "427" embroidery and the center-console trim plate is finished in the same red as the body. Each 427 Limited Edition comes signed and numbered (under the console lid) by Wil Cooksey, the Bowling Green assembly-plant manager who retired in 2008. At $84,195 MSRP, this limited edition was priced about $13,000 more than a base Z06 and about $3000 more than a similarly equipped Z06. The only available option is the $1750 navigation system, which this particular car has. Production was limited to just 427 (the engine displacement) in the U.S. and Canada and 78 more outside North America, for a total of 505 (the horsepower of the LS7). THE NUMBERS The VIN is 1G1YY26EX85127940 decoded as: - Sixth digit 2 is for coupe and Z06 - Seventh digit 6 is for front/side restraint - Eighth digit E is engine code for 427 - Ninth digit X is a security code that varies - 27940 production sequence (ends at 35284) MECHANICAL - 7.0 L 427 cu. in. 505 hp LS7 engine w/ dry sump oil system - Titanium connecting rods and intake valves - 6 speed manual transmission w/ 1st to 4th gear skip-shift feature - Limited slip differential w/ 3.42 ratio - 4 wheel independent suspension - Power sensitive rack and pinion steering - Power disc brakes w/ red-painted calipers; 6 piston front & 4 piston rear - Exclusive spider chrome wheels - Nitto Invo tires; front 275/35ZR18, rear 325/30ZR19; good remaining tread - Tire pressure monitoring system SAFETY AND SECURITY - Driver/passenger air bags; passenger off switch - Seat-mounted side impact driver and passenger air bags - Keyless access w/ push button start - Theft deterrent system and alarm - Power 4 wheel antilock disc brakes; Delphi 4-channel system - Active handling system complete w/ Competitive Driving Mode EXTERIOR - Exclusive Crystal Red Tintcoat paint - Body color spoiler and door handles - Black "stinger" hood motif w/ "427" badging - Power heated outside mirrors - HID Xenon headlamps - Fog and daytime running lamps - GM splash guards aft of rear wheel wells - Original glass in good condition INTERIOR - 3LZ custom leather wrapped dark titanium interior - "427" embroidered seats and floor mats - "Z06" sill plates - Crystal red interior trim plate - Underside of console lid signed by Wil Cooksey and numbered #179 of 505 - Optional U3U Bose Navigation system w/ CD/AM/FM/MP3 radio; 7 speakers, steering wheel radio controls - XM Radio and On-Star equipped - Dual zone electronic air conditioning - Cabin air filtration - Driver information center; oil life monitoring system - Cruise control - Intermittent wiper system - 6-way power driver's seat - Tilt and power telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel - Power door locks and windows - Electric rear window defogger - Remote hatch and fuel door release - Luggage shade and parcel net - Heads-Up Display (HUD) - Homelink transmitter (garage door, gates, etc.) - Memory package; 2 fobs - Auto dimming inside rear view mirror w/ compass - Heated seats - Original owner's manuals including Navigation and XM Radio CONDITION OF THIS PARTICULAR CAR Although truly a collectible model, this car has been driven (albeit only 22,615 miles) and begs to be driven more. It is, however, in excellent cosmetic shape and shows very well. The red paint, black stinger hood, chrome wheels and special badging give it a stunning exterior appearance. The paint work was completed to a very high, factory quality standard and now shows only typical few minor defects from being driven a few thousand miles. There is no damage in the rocker panel areas as sometimes occurs from improper lifting. The under-nose air dam is in very good condition. The undercarriage (and "before") photographs support the owners statement that the Z06 did not suffer any frame damage during the incident. Any panels that required replacement received the benefit of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts resulting in a car that is difficult to fault cosmetically. The titanium color leather interior and special badging again set the car off from base Z06s. The interior is similarly in fine shape. The engine bay is very clean and shows good care. The underside appears California clean. The left front wheel has a bit of curb rash on it. Both inner sill plates (silver thin metallic applique) are somewhat "bubbly" in appearance but there is no sign of damage to any part of the Corvette. The car has a California salvage title as a result of a 2009 incident. The Corvette was purchased as the personal car of the owner of a world class restoration facility who had the car painstakingly repaired to his exacting standards. It is very important to emphasize that this Corvette was not repaired by "just another body shop" but a company that has restored multi-million dollar, show winning / museum quality cars. The reserve is set to acknowledge the title, and thus allows you to purchase this very special Z06 at a very reasonable price. The car passed the required California inspection with no findings and runs drives and handles as you would expect from a late model high performance Z06. The Corvette is licensed, registered and being used exclusively on the street (no track use) and was inspected (and passed) the California Highway inspection after the repairs were completed. HISTORY OF THE CHEVROLET CORVETTE C6 Z06 (The Platform for the "Wil Cooksey) The Chevrolet Corvette C6 is a sports car produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 2005-2013 model years. This sixth generation Corvette is the first with exposed headlamps since the 1962 model. Production variants include the Z06, ZR1, Grand Sport, and 427 Convertible. The Z06 arrived as a 2006 model in the third quarter of 2005 and is the lightest of all Corvette models. The Z06 was equipped with the largest-displacement small-block ever produced, a new 7.0 L (427 cu in) engine codenamed LS7. The LS7 produced 505 hp and was the most powerful naturally aspirated engine put into a production car from General Motors. In addition to the larger displacement engine, the Corvette Z06 has a dry sump oiling system, and connecting rods made out of titanium alloy. The frame of the Z06 is constructed from aluminum, saving 136 pounds over the standard steel frame. Other weight saving measures such as balsa wood/carbon fiber composite floors and a magnesium alloy engine cradle were used. The Z06's body differentiates itself from the standard Corvette with its larger front and rear fenders and an intake inlet scoop on the front bumper. The front fenders are constructed with carbon fiber and the rear fenders contain ducts to aid in cooling the rear brakes. The Z06 weighed 3,130 lb (1,420 kg), giving it a weight to power ratio of 6.2 pounds per horsepower, allowing excellent fuel economy rating (24 mpg on the highway & 15 mpg in the city). The Z06 contains the following enhancements over the standard C6 Corvette: - Hand-built LS7 7.0L 427CI V8 with dry-sump oiling system - Aluminum chassis with fixed roof - Larger/stiffer anti-sway bars - Stiffer springs and shocks - Larger rear spoiler and front splitter - Transmission cooler - Unique front fascia with intake inlet - Wider carbon fiber front and fiberglass rear fenders - Functional front and rear brake ducts for added brake system cooling - Unique light weight forged aluminum 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels - Wider 275/35ZR18 tires in the front and wider 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear - Larger 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, including cross-drilled 355 mm (14.0 in) front rotors and 340 mm (13 in) rear rotors PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background for any collector car being sold over the Internet. It is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to: - How long have they been in business? - How much experience do they have with collector cars? - How many positive collector car vehicle sales have they completed (positive eBay feedback)? - How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle? - Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "glamour shots" taken from a distance? - Does the seller have a Surety Bond to protect the financial transaction? - What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license? - Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances? - Does the seller enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation? - Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales? ABOUT CLASSIC CARS LTD. - Classic Cars Ltd. has been in the same, small, California town for over 20 years. We operate a small "brick & mortar", indoor showroom, and specialize in the sale, consignment, and purchase of sports, high performance and specialty vehicles of all types. We have a particular interest in sports cars and unique vehicles. - The majority of our vehicles come from local, private owners and collectors, and many were sold new in California. We appreciate that rust free cars, with excellent documentation and history are especially attractive to our buyers both locally, and around the country. As a result, we do not purchase our collectible cars from "distressed" sales, such as wholesale auctions, salvage sales, or lien sales. We do not sell vehicles with salvage titles, or those that have a history of significant accident damage or repair. We have sold hundreds of unique, classic and collectible vehicles and regularly deal with buyers that have not had the experience of purchasing a large (both physically and monetarily) item on eBay, or through an Internet source. Our eBay feedback is 100% positive on all vehicle sales from customers around the globe and is a reflection of our commitment to accurate, complete, and thorough vehicle descriptions. - We have been shipping vehicles for years and have established excellent contacts that are not only high quality but very price competitive. We do not use brokers, terminal shipping or other discount methods. Call us or email for a quote directly to your home or office. We are often able to obtain quality enclosed transportation (the kind of travel this car deserves) for the cost of open shipping. - Please review our feedback on eBay (user name Never22Many) representing over 780 positive transactions to buyers all over the United States / World. - We are fully insured, bonded, and licensed for collector car sales all over the United States/World. - Classic Cars Ltd. carries a $50,000 Surety bond to cover financial transactions - We frequently sell vehicles to out of State / out of country buyers, and will be glad to provide references for buyers in your area. MISCELLANEOUS GENERAL INFORMATION - As with virtually all collector/specialty vehicles, we find that parts and resources are readily available for this (and most every vehicle), thanks in large part to the Internet. - In addition to the purchase price of the vehicle, California buyers will be subject to sales tax, a documentation fee, DMV transfer fees and license/registration. Out-of-state buyers will be responsible for the purchase price of the vehicle and any local taxes/fees will be the purchaser's responsibility to pay in their respective state. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the vehicle is delivered or driven in California and driven on California roads, sales-tax, license/registration and transfer fees will be assessed per California law. - While we encourage telephone calls to discuss this vehicle in greater detail we will not respond to inquiries asking "What is the reserve". Also, if you would prefer that we call you to answer any questions about the vehicle; shipping alternatives, etc. please e-mail us with your telephone number and will gladly get back in touch with you. - We encourage inspections of this Corvette by serious, qualified individuals or professional inspectors. Please call at 925-846-1451 to arrange a convenient time. - As with any collectible vehicle of this vintage we are unable to provide a warranty or guarantee of condition. However, we make every effort to accurately represent our vehicles, and highlight both positive items as well as areas that require attention. We ask that prospective buyers consider our eBay history/feedback, standing in the community, length of time in business, and other factors when purchasing a collectible vehicle from Classic Cars Ltd. - Minor cosmetic issues/flaws may be present on every vehicle (regardless of cost) including small chips, nicks, scratches, etc. that can be seen on even the best restoration, or even a relatively new, used "pre-owned" vehicle. Also, ownership of a collectible / specialty vehicle is more enjoyable if the owner is familiar with the "realities" of these unique cars. Unlike more modern day vehicles, these cars require regular, ongoing care/maintenance and some mechanical knowledge, patience, and understanding can make the experience considerably more pleasant. That said, collector / "specialty" car owners will tell you (emphatically) that they love their cars and wouldn't trade them for anything!! - The information contained in this description is believed to be accurate but, in some instances, has been provided by the car's owner / owners or outside sources. As a result, we are unable to guarantee the accuracy of the information. We encourage verification of "numbers" and significant data prior to the purchase of any collector vehicle that you are considering. Please be certain that you are prepared to buy the car if you bid, or call us at 925-846-1451 before the end of the auction if we can answer any questions.
