Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1968 Chevrolet C-10 step side pickup. If you look through my images, you will see that I have all of the original paperwork from when the truck was purchased new. The truck was purchase in Indiana for use on a farm. The truck was used on the farm for most of its life then retired and parked next to a barn for an unknown number of years. Two years ago an Indiana high school shop class purchased the truck and got it running and driving again. The truck was originally a straight 6 cylinder, 3 speed on the tree. The truck was just good enough to run and drive around the block. Once the class was finished with it they placed it on craigslist, where I found the truck. I started rebuilding the truck the very beginning of this year. The truck was stripped to the bare frame. I notched the frame, rebuilt all of the front control arms, built new 2x3" box rear trailing arms, built a custom watts link for the rear, and painted the frame. As for the drivetrain, it has a 5.3L engine out of a 2003 Silverado. The transmission is an M21 muncie 4 speed with a brand new clutch, flywheel, and hurst shifter. The transmission is original and has never been rebuilt. It works just fine but does have a grind when going into 4th gear. The engine has a Texas Speed 224R camshaft with a 112lsa. I removed the fuel injection and installed a new Holley dual plane intake and 4150, 650cfm carb with electric choke and vacume secondaries. An MSA 6LS ignition box controls all of the ignition and timing of the engine. It also has a 160ยบ thermostat, aluminum radiator, and dual electric fans. The exhaust is comprised of Holley ceramic coated manifolds, 2.5" dual stainless exhaust with and x-pipe, and magnaflow mufflers. The truck runs GREAT and never gets hot. I did drive the truck on this year's Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. We drove the truck 1580 miles and had a blast. The body is mostly original and in the condition of which it was found. The floor was in very bad condition and was replaced with new metal from LMC. The inner and outer rockers were replaced as well as the cab corners. The floor was seam sealed inside and out and undercoated on the bottom side. Sound deadener was used inside the truck and new carpet was also installed. We had the seat recovered and it really looks great. The truck was originally sold without a radio so we left the delete panel in place. The truck does however have an amp inside the glovebox and speakers mounted below the dash. There is an auxiliary cable that lays on the seat so that you can plug your phone in to play music. All of the gauges work perfectly, MPH, coolant temp, fuel level, blinkers, etc. The only thing that does not work are the wipers. As you can also see in the pictures, there is no heat or a/c. The firewall will need to be repaired and a vintage air installed if that is something important to you. The truck bed floor was rebuilt using 3x4" square stock and red oak wood. The 3x4" was welded in to help give the frame some additional rigidity when bed was bolted in place. The tale gate was also is fairly bad condition and was welded closed. We had a local artisan cabinet maker mill the boards to 3/4" and finish them. The ammo box is a simple touch to give some storage space and is bolted down to the bed floor. The suspension has all new ball joints and bushings up front. A stock sway bar with all new bushings and brackets up front. McGaughy's 2.5" drop spindles are install in the front with new disc brakes and wheel bearings. The brake booster, master, prop valve, hard lines, and soft lines are all new. The truck has power steering using the pump from the 2003 engine and we also rebuilt the original p/s gear. The wheels are new front summit racing in 17x9 all around and are wrapped in new tires. The truck has had roughly 2500 miles on it since it was finished. There are no issue with the truck other than the grind going into 4th gear. If you are curious as to why I am selling the truck, I do this every year. I purchase an old vehicle during the winter to fix up and drive on the Hot Rod Power Tour. I mostly enjoy building these old cars and trucks and then get to enjoy them on my week of vacation with other car guys. Once this truck sell I will start this process, or addiction, all over again. Please message me with any questions that you may have! There are many more specifics that I'm sure I forgot to mention. EDIT: AS OF 7/9/14, THE WIPERS ARE WORKING. THE WIPER SWITCH WAS SIMPLY UNPLUGGED. YES, I KNOW......
