Vehicle Detail
1973 Ford E200 Econoline Supervan rare Turtle Top Camper This rare unrestored original (except hood and front of roof) Turtle Top conversion (by Travel Equipment Corp.) van is in very good condition. Low original miles (61,257), 302 V8 and automatic transmission runs and shifts like new. Upgraded electronic ignition helps the motor start right up every time even after weeks of storage. High output front heater. New master cylinder, all new drums and wheel cylinders replaced on the power brake system a few hundred miles ago (receipts included with sale). Power steering. Original rubber mats. The van’s paint is mostly original and has some typical scratches and minor dings/dents from use that might not be visible in photos. If you google Turtle top can you will most likely see this exact van with the State of Virginia seal on the side. The previous owners called her Virginia because of this. The state decals were removed before I bought this van in 2012. The original manuals for the van and camper accessories are included along with many receipts. All metal body with absolutely NO RUST anywhere, except for some minor surface stuff. It’s obvious that this van has always been stored indoors. The van has 2 front bucket seats (driver’s has a tear) and a bench seat with seat belts in the back that turns into a bed. Privacy curtains all around. The table is easily removed when you are ready to sleep. This camper also features the ultra-rare cots (see photo) for two small children that make this van comfortable for a family of 4. The 2 adults sleep on the lower bed and 2 small kids in the cots above. The cots fold up and are help on the side above the rear seat. The interior features a heating system with thermostat that works and a working dual voltage refrigerator and stove. A dual battery system installed in 1975 allows for a 2nd battery which is stored under the small bench in front of the sink – 2nd battery not included in sale. There is a sink with a water storage tank. Exterior water and drain hook-ups for the campground. 2 large drawers under the rear bench seat and plenty of other storage. 4 rear windows can open for great ventilation. The turtle top has 2 vent windows and all the canvas and vinyl are in great shape. It opens and closes easily with 4 corner locks and built in springs that make it easy for anyone to operate. It closes by pulling down on the roof handles and locks into place. It’s all still soft, not brittle. Multiple interior lights that all work. Dash board compass. The on-board propane tanks are full and ready for a road trip. Trailer hitch with 2” ball and 4 wire plug for lights. New windshield and rubber weather strip recently installed. New windshield wiper blades too. You can drive this van anywhere. I can pick the winning bidder up from Newark airport and you can drive her home but you must have your own plates. The tires (225/70-R15) are older but ok for now and the spare on the back is ready to use. There is room for larger wheels and tires. We used this a few times to camp with our kids and it was a lot of fun and always gathers a crowd. Dimensions: Exterior overall length from tip of front bumper to back of spare tire: Approximately 16’3” Exterior width from side mirror to side mirror: Approximately 74” Exterior height with turtle top closed: Approximately 77” Interior height with turtle top up: approximately 74” so if you are 6’ tall you will not bump your head! Turtle top size is approximately 10’ x 6’ Bed size: approximately: 45.5” wide x 76” long. The van is sold as-is so I encourage a personal inspection because photos always make things look better than they do in person. The time to inspect this van is prior to bidding, not afterwards. If you have any questions that I did not cover feel free to call but serious only please. Joe 201-577-2683. $500 paypal deposit due within 24 hours and balance due within 3 days of sale in the form of a bank or cashiers check which must clear before the van is released.
