Used 1997 Volkswagen Jetta GTOwned since 2008 Purchased for son. Originally titled in my name, but changed in November 2013 when son moved to NY. Son wanted manual transmission car, so the title was switched back to me in June 2014Car has been reliable and used by son to drive from Halifax to Lancaster every day to workRecently replaced: Rack and pinion due to a leaking seal (about 9 months ago); alignment done at that time Air conditioning compressor (about 1 year ago)Deer ran into side of car which required the fender, headlight, grill, and fog lights to be replacedWindshield replaced late last yearMileage was 97K when purchased in 2008The previous owner filed a lawsuit with the car dealer she purchased the car from because the inspection sticker did not have the correct VIN and the instrument cluster had been replaced (assuming the car's mileage was not correct). THE PA TITLE INDICATES THE MILEAGE IS NOT THE ACTUAL MILEAGE due to the lawsuit. The dealer listed the mileage as 66K, but the odometer indicated 97K.Tire tread Front 5/32 Rear 6/32Timing belt and water pump was replaced shortly after we purchased the car (about 63K milies ago)Oil and filter were changed every 5K since we've owned the carThere seems to be a noise coming from the front of the engine that has been there since we've owned the car (I think it is a lifter noise)All struts and shocks have been replaced since we've owned the carBattery was replaced in 2008Replaced Transmission Control Unit (TCU) shortly after we purchased the car due to constant CEL codes relating to speed sensors. The TCM was not the correct unit for the carNo CEL since TCM was replacedPA Inspection good until 9/14Issues: Cracked paint on back bumper (see photo) Nicks in back bumper paint Paint chips on hood Small dent at right rear wheel well Several other small dents and scratches Chips in rear passenger door glass along (see photo) Part of rocker molding trim missing on driver's side Cruise control doesn't seem to work Power door locks don't always work on passenger door Three burn holes in driver's seat (see photo) Front passenger seat cushion seems deformed (see photo)THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THIS USED VEHICLE. I think it will be a good reliable vehicle for someone because we've had very few problems with the car over the last 6 years.
