Vehicle Detail
1987 Honda Super Magna VF700C This rare bike has only 7200 original miles. (It's actually a little less, but I've been riding it some so it will be around 7200) I bought this bike in January 2009. The original owner had parked it in his garage in 1992 and it sat there for 17 years. I went through the bike, cleaned it up, and got it back on the road. At that time the following work was done*Carbs disassembled, dipped, cleaned, and rebuilt with new internals*Valve adjustment*Fork seals replaced*Brake master cylinders cleaned & rebuilt with OEM Honda seals*Brake wheel cylinders cleaned & rebuilt with OEM Honda seals*Clutch master cylinder cleaned & rebuilt with OEM Honda seals*Clutch slave cylinder cleaned & rebuilt with OEM Honda seals*All rubber hydraulic lines & banjo washers replaced with OEM Honda parts*Throttle cables replaced with OEM Honda parts*New OEM Honda seat*Tank acid treated*All fluids changed*New Dunlop Tires*Inline aluminum serviceable fuel filter added under left side airbox cover (this is the only modification to the bike. The plastic base of the box was cut to allow the filter to clear. Not visible when cover is on.) At that time, the aluminum components were stripped and high polished. (Forks, engine covers, valve covers, etc). The clearcoat had faded and oxidized, so it has been polished off. This means the aluminum requires occasional polishing to maintain a high shine. It could use a polish now. The paint is 100% original. It has some small scuffs or scratches in a few spots. Mentioned only for accuracy, the paint overall looks fantastic. There is a small dent on the tank, along the bottom seam on the right hand side. It's about the size of a dime and maybe a 1/4" deep or less. The chrome is bright and shiny, but it is not perfect. It has very minor pitting. A polish with very fine steel wool makes it look almost new. I rode the bike only a couple hundred miles, then I parked it. I don't really ride, and I moved on to new projects. It sat again in my garage for 5 years. I pulled it out last month. I hadn't drained the carbs, so I sent them off to get done professionally. The fuel petcock was weeping a little, so I replaced it (and the tank filter) with a new OEM Honda part. I also let the tank soak in evaporust for about a week, and agitated it with steel shot to get any gunk out. It was flushed several times with clean fuel before installation. The tank has a little surface rust in the filler neck, but inside is clean. I also installed new carb insulator boots, and a brand new AGM battery. The bike starts right up without choke, and runs all day long. It accelerates smoothly with light throttle or WOT. All lights work. I do have the original passenger seat in good conidition that is included with the bike, as well as a Honda factory service manual. -When you shift into 1st after startup, it "ratchets" and pops into gear firmly. It does this only on the first shift, after riding it doesn't continue-There is a very faint intermittent squeal on the front wheel. It's either a light brake squeal or a wheel bearing. It only happens occasionally, but mentioned for accuracy. -The carbs were bench synced, but they aren't tuned perfectly. If warm idle is set to 1100, it idles for a little but then sputters and stalls out. If the warm idle is around 1800, it runs fine. It idles at 1800 or so, and after about 20 seconds it settles down to a low idle. It's perfectly driveable how it is, but there is still some adjustment to be done. The bike was last registered in 2010 when I was riding it. I have a clear Texas Title in my name. If you are local and want to test ride, you may with these conditions. You must have a motorcycle endorsed license. I don't have current tags or insurance on this bike. There is a good no outlet back road out of my neighborhood where you can get up to speed. I will require $2700 cash in hand before you ride. If you wreck it, dump it, drop it, don't come back, or otherwise damage it, you get the title and you bought it. As long as it comes back as it left, you get your money back. Otherwise you can come check it out all you want if you don't want to ride it. I've sold a $30K+ truck on ebay sight unseen by an out of state buyer, with good feedback. I try to list everything accurately. I just won't take the risk for someone I don't know riding the bike. I am moving, which is the reason for the sale. Pickup is available in Tomball, TX, NW of Houston. If you want to ship the bike, I will work with your shipper. It is up to the buyer to arrange. Looking quickly, I saw estimates around $600. I can hold the bike for a short time after auction end, no more than 30 days as my home is for sale. I will be out of town and unavailable for pickup July 2-7. Please ask all questions before bidding. $250 deposit due via paypal 3 days after auction end. Remainder in cash at pickup. I will accept paypal for the balance, but it must clear out of my paypal and into my bank before I will release the bike or title. Also paypal fees are paid by buyer, the auction price is due in full after fees. Here is a link to a video of the bike running. You will have to download the file to view it. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F1A6AE9C423A1C43%21197
