Up for auction is a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite. This car has all the things that you want in an early model British sports car so please take your time and read the auction in full. Heritage: This 1962 has the true roadster / speedster look in that it has no exterior door handles, has the side curtains and a stow away soft top. This car is purported as being a numbers matching car ( one of the reasons we purchased the car ). I have done my research online and believe it to be so but you would need to do your own research to ensure that is the case. The numbers on the car are as follows: Chassis HAN6L / 13551 Engine 9CG - DA - H or 11 - 20179 Door (DS) ABL 011066 Door (PS) BAL 10974 Top of radiator ARA 92 51 62 If you get a Heritage Certificate the value of this car will soar. Mechanicals: The engine starts right up with no smoke, ticks, rattles or shaking even after sitting for weeks at a time. The car has the original 948 cc engine, smooth case 4 spd transmission and 4 wheel drum brake set-up. The engine and transmission appear to have been rebuilt but I have no receipts for the work. The car holds good oil pressure at about 55 - 60 lbs. when hot. When driving the car I have never seen the temp gauge exceed 150 degrees. The transmission and rear end work well and shifts up and down through all the gears nicely and I just had the transmission and rear end oil changed. The car will back up an incline without holding the stick or popping out of gear. Last spring the car had new front and rear brake pads, new front and rear wheel cylinders, new front and rear brakes hoses and a new duel brake / clutch master cylinder installed. The emergency brake works very well. The car was also serviced this spring with new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, air filters, oil change, radiator flushed / new coolant added and all fluids topped off. The engine bay is in outstanding show quality condition and shows very well. The car has tight steering and tracks down the road nice and straight. The car has a newer exhaust system from the manifold all the way back to the rear tail pipe ( sounds great! ). Electrical's: The headlights work, front running lights work, rear running lights work, brake lights work, front and rear directional's work, license plate light work, wipers work ( new wiper motor installed last spring ), blower / defrost motor works ,dash gauge lights work and all correct "Smith" gauges appear to be working properly at this time. The car has an original / period radio that powers up but no music plays. Interior: The interior is very nice and I think the photos speak for themselves! Exterior: The paint job was done last July to a good standard and shines very well (redone in the original and correct Black as from the factory). The body panels, wheel arches and rocker panels are extremely straight. Please take note of the exceptional panel and body fit of the doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid. All the chrome is in good serviceable condition ( see photos ). The car sits evenly and squarely on the ground with no visible leaning or squatting issues. The car comes with a fabulous red tonneau cover ( had to special ordered in Red ), side curtains and a new Robbins black soft top ( needs to be installed ). This is a very nice looking 1962 that you will be proud to be seen in. Soft Top: The car comes with a NEW Robbins black soft top which needs to be installed. The top requires only 8 snaps to install all of which come with the car as well as the instructions for install. Frame - Underbody: I can not express in words how nice the frame and underbody look! One of the best I have ever seen. So, I have many high quality photos of the underbody that I will send any with interest and let them speak for the car. I'm not an expert but I find no evidence of accident damage / accident repairs. Again, no an expert so please request the additional photos I have available or if you can please come see the car in person. Trunk: The trunk is rock solid! The car comes with the rare, hard to find and expensive accessories like: original jack & stowage bag, lug wrench, hubcap removal tool, spare tire / wheel, tonneau cover support rails, top frame & stowage bag, side curtains & stowage bag, Tonneau cover, and a car cover with stowage bag. Extra Photos: I have 100 extra photos of the car which will give you a very, very clear idea of the cars condition. The extra photos detail the underbody, brake system, inner fender wells, trunk, engine compartment, top frame, soft top and a ton more photos of the car . Misc: The car comes with an original "BMC" Austin - Healey work shop manual and a small box of parts and other misc extras. Title: The car is currently registered in my name and I have a clear North Carolina state issued title in my name.
