1989 Honda CR500 ready for AHRMA. Purchased from a guy in his late 60's, I personally rebuilt this bike from the frame up with the intention of racing myself. After riding it for just a few minutes to make sure everything works (it does) I have decided to get a smaller bike. A partial list of NEW parts.... Piston (Fresh bore .5 over - 5 minutes total time) Rings Fork Seals Front and Rear Brake Rotors Front and Rear Brake Shoes Front tire Left case cover (magento) Coil Plug Clutch Pressure Plate Rear Axle Air filter Linkage bearings Renthal Bars Levers Chain glide rubber on swing arm Chain Many nuts and bolts Some of the fixes I applied to get it into racing condition... Replaced all fluids Repaired the clutch Remounted the pipe and silencer for proper fit Greased the chassis bearing The bike is in good shape and will not require much, if anything, to go racing or riding. The one thing I struggled with was replacing the fork seals, and when I rode the bike they seeped. Known defects: The pipe is dented in a few places. The right down tube has a dent in front of the motor mount (frame is straight). The seat has a slight upward bend (looks like somebody pulled it over backwards at some point). The plastic is in good shape, but does have some discoloring in a few places. The restoration was for racing, not showing, so it still has blemishes. The forks have new seals, but I had trouble getting them seated (I don't have a seal driver). The front number plate in the pictures stays with me. I have an OEM replacement. The one shown is mine from 1993 District 37. It was NOT earned with this machine (in other words I did not race a full season of D37 desert racing on this bike). The reserve is very reasonable.
