The E-series spawned a particularly attractive variant and this low-mileage 1995 E320 convertible combines the many virtues of Mercedes-Benz history with an open air experience that few other cars can rival. This gorgeous red car with a black ragtop shows just 80353 original miles and in Mercedes-Benz-speak that's barely broken-in. The 4-door E-class actually makes for a lovely and well-proportioned 2-door convertible particularly with the top down. The distinctive Mercedes grille with three-pointed star hood ornament provides just the right amount of cache to get you front-row parking from the valets but the car is pure understatement and doesn't need to shout to make its point. This car was built when Mercedes-Benz automobiles were truly engineered like no other. Every single control feels silky and well-damped and while it was all business behind the wheel that was how Mercedes customers seemed to prefer it. Door panels carpets and the dash are all extremely well-preserved and the instrument panel will look familiar to anyone who drove a period Mercedes-Benz of any type. It's loaded with features including climate control power windows and locks memory seats cruise control a heated rear window and a powerful AM/FM/cassette stereo. The airbag-equipped tilt column was somewhat of a rarity in 1995 but it makes this grand tourer extremely comfortable under just about any conditions. The top raises and folds with the touch of a button and looks fantastic in either position thanks to high-quality materials and a glass rear window. The trunk is also nicely finished with a surprising amount of space so this should be your next road trip car. That road trip will be effortlessly facilitated by a 3.2-liter inline-six that's turbine-smooth and remarkably thrifty. For some reason the Mercedes engineers decided that the transmission should start in second gear so it feels smooth around town but where this car really shines is on the open road where you can hustle just a little bit. It's not a racer but it feels competent and buttoned-down under any circumstances and with the open-air experience it makes for a first-class ride. The engine bay is very tidy and shows signs of regular maintenance critical on a car as complex as this and the undercarriage shows what you get from storing the car out of the elements; it's really nice! Rarer than an SL and capable of transporting four in comfort this E320 convertible deserves a closer look especially at this price.
