Vehicle Detail

Here is your chance to own a very rare & unique, steel body roadster (not a kit) that is not a Chevy or a Ford. Up for auction is this Durant model 614 roadster. Never heard of a Durant? .....here is a description of the company that I found on line: The Durant was a make of automobile assembled by Durant Motors Corporation of New York City, New York from 1921 to 1926 and again from 1928 to 1932. Durant Motors was founded by William "Billy" Durant after he was terminated as the head of General Motors. Billy Durant's intent was to build an automotive empire that could one day challenge General Motors. The Durant automobile is considered to be an example of an "assembled" automobile because so many of its components were obtained from outside suppliers. From 1921 to 1926 the vehicle was powered by a four cylinder Continental engine. The vehicle was directed at the Oakland automobile price point. Production of the vehicle was suspended for the 1926 and 1927 model years. When the Durant was reintroduced, the car was redesigned and powered by a six cylinder Continental engine; some of the early vehicles were marketed as the "Durant-Star". Bodies for the vehicle were supplied by Budd Company. In 1930, some Durants were built with all steel bodies, also supplied by Budd. Durant Motors was found insolvent and automobile production ended early in 1932. Built into the custom car you see here approximately 15 years ago, this "hot rod," though showing it's age somewhat, remains very sharp and runs out beautifully. The engine is a Chevrolet 283 small block with 3 dueces mounted to a Mustang II front suspension. Exhaust manifolds flow into a full dual exhaust with chrome tips. True mileage of the engine rebuild is unknown, but it starts right up and idles smoothly. An electric fan keeps it cool. Transmission is a turbo 350 that shifts smoothly. Rear end is out of a Jaguar with disc brakes and independent suspension. Disc brakes are up front as well. Exterior is a pearl white with custom painted graphics. Paint and bodywork are still very nice with only a few very minor imperfections. Door handles have been removed and trunk lid is power operated. Soft top is easily removeable and there is also a custom boot. I am helping the owner to sell this car as he has lost interest in it. He has a clear MN title for the car. I have personally seen and driven this car and it is a blast to drive and turns a lot of heads! Not a 100% perfect show car, but still super nice and a very dependable hot rod that anyone could get in and drive! I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as car is for sale locally. *****Several people (mostly purist Durant owners) have written in to "correct" the Durant description I have listed. I've have tried to get the correct information and hopefully everything is accurate at this point, but you have to remember, I am listing for a friend and am not a Durant expert. I've been told that the year of the car is 1930 based on the gauge cluster and that the hood is a model 614 based on the "spears." I was told the car is a 1932. This is a custom street rod and as such the car is not "all original." Description is accurate as best I can describe*****
