CAR HAS A DOCUMENTED 30k Miles On It! Watch Videos below for video interview and pictures of the car throughout it's life. In April 1970, a young man named Doug Merrill from Hollywood, CA had just returned home from Vietnam and decided to take a road trip with friends. A visit with family in Houston TX took him to a used car lot where he seen this 1967 Firebird 400 for sale out in front. A few days later he went back to see if the car was for sale and he was told it was in the "back" being worked on. Apparently, a customer went on a test drive and didn't latch the hood. It came up during the test drive and bent the hood. They replaced it with a flat style non 400 hood. Anyhow, Doug bought the car for $1400 and took it back home to Hollywood. Doug was quite the playboy back in the early 70's and would drive it to Las Vegas ocassionally. In the interview, Mr. Merrill, talks about being intoxicated and backing the car into a pole at a now defunct Las Vegas casino. Moreover, Mr. Merrill talks about different trips with the car and where it has been. Eventurally, he gave the car to his daughter in the early 2000's, who owned it until 2008. Doug got the car back from her and has been driving it sparingly since. The car runs and drives like the wind. It's ready to be driven across country at any time. The convertible top is new and works great. The car is amazingly original and solid. The floor pans and undercarriage still retain the factory blue overspray, with not a hint of rust on anything underneath the car. The only rust on the car is the very rear bottoms of the 1/4 panels. Also some on the dog legs of the fenders...this car is REALLY dry! It has the original paint on the car! The only piece of sheet metal not original to the car is the hood. The original flew up in 1970, and was replaced with a flat hood, later on it was replaced with a 400 hood. The interior is original, and needs front and rear covers, as the California sun has dried them out. If you put a interior kit in this car circa $1,000 and have someone fix Mr. Merrills' whiskey dents and give her a repaint, you'll have a $40,000 car. I know this because I sold 2 others on here recently for $41,000 and $44,000 Call me anytime with questions 312 622 7533
