Welcome to my auction for a 2005 Triumph Thruxton Cup Bike. EBAY LOADED MY PICTURES STRANGE PLEASE COPY THIS LINK TO VIEW A DROPBOX FULL OF PHOTOS OF THE BIKE IF YOU ARE FRUSTRATED TURNING YOUR SCREEN. Sorry for the annoyance but ebay no longer allows links so either email me or add w w w to the front of this link and copy and paste it..dropbox.com/sh/q5iwj0tpex78jhv/qL30KAVDsg Before I delve into the technical specs and spares list, I HAVE LOWERED MY STARTING BID AND THERE IS NO RESERVE!!!Let me start by declaring a few things for those uninitiated with the best kept secret in racing. It all started in 2006 on a dare from friends that I should go racing as I enjoyed some speed on the street. Speed was relative as I was madly in love with vintage bikes at the time. A few beers later, I bought the bike you see before you here as a full Thruxton Cup racebike with Original MSO (never titled on the street) as well as all the street parts to make it legal should I decide that racing was not for me. I headed to a race school in Las Vegas in March 2006 and was racing by June with AHRMA in the Thruxton Cup class lined up next to legends like Gary Nixon and Jay Springsteen shaking in my boots. Well, I twisted the throttle and here we are in 2014 with three years of racing another spec series at a professional level. The Thruxton is still the most fun I have ever had on a racetrack. The fellowship, stories, excitement, and action have never been rivaled. This is still an amazing series with national attention focused on competitive racing in a spec series with a low up front investment with almost non-existent reliability issues with the old bikes. You get all the looks and excitement of vintage racing with the reliability and cost effectiveness of a new Triumph. This is a series that you can race one set of tires for 3 race weekends instead of 3 sets every weekend! That is a major reason to race his series as well as the exposure Triumph is giving this series in the press. I was so into this series that I actually have 2 of these bikes right now, thus my reasoning for selling one. This is the very bike that Ted Cobb won the first Triumph Thruxton Cup championship on and propelled me to winning my very own championship a few seasons later. If you have ever thought of racing a motorcycle and want to get on a bike that will let you do it without wondering if you have the right set up, this is it. If you are wondering if you are too young, old, slow, or green, I assure you that you will line up with up to 30 riders on a grid going into the first turn at speed with the likes of Jason Disalvo (PRO AMA TRIUMPH 675 PILOT), Journalists, flat trackers, a guy twice your age that can still beat you (Fred Wilink), and a list of other great people that will give you the shirt off their backs to keep you racing during the weekend. The people off the track are almost as fun as the action on it. Enough with the nostalgia, it’s time to get to the details. You are bidding on a USED 2005 Triumph Thruxton 900cc motorcycle. This is the carbureted version opposed to the EFI. This motor is bone stock and reliable as all hell. I have been diligent on race maintenance with oil changes and valve adjustments during my ownership of this bike. The bike comes with an extensive list of street take offs to make this racer the ultimate street Thruxton should you chose to make that happen one day. There are a fair amount of nicks and dings from being on the track, but I assure you, the bike is straight, fast, safe, and ready to race with after adding a new set of tires. Oil is changed, brakes are bled, it’s safety wired to pass tech. I was on track with it last season at a track day to shake it down out of retirement. These bikes were meant to be upgraded with suspension, exhaust, and fairings to be ready to compete on the track. This bike has the best components in those departments and is 100% race ready. I have also included a few spares here as well. You will see the estimated new costs of the extras listed here. Of course the components are not new, but you will see that this all adds up very quick if you bought them yourself for a race bike project. (welcome to racing!) RACE PARTS INCLUDED AND INSTALLED · Ohlins rear shocks for a 180lbs rider ($2000.00) · Traction Dynamic front end components roughly ($1000.00 set up) · Airtech front and rear fiberglass cowls ready for your number · D&D exhausts with the right side rashed from a lowslide gravel trap excursion at Mid-Ohio by a friend of mine!) This is fully functional and ready to race, but ugly on the right. · Upgraded foot pegs to gain clearance. · Brand new Yausa battery ($125.00) · 525 conversion 40, 42, 43, 44 rear sprockets ($200.00) · Front 17 Sprocket ($35) · Spiegler LSL Steering Damper ($350.00) with mount and rebuildable condition) I would service this in the future. It does not seem blown, but could use a freshen up. · LSL clip on handlebars so you are only replacing aluminum tubes instead of stock expen$ive handlebars ($299.00) · LSL headlight brackets ($189.00) · British Customs fork brace ($200.00) This is well over $4500.00 in extras that have not gone down in price, I assure you. This is all in raced condition so if you are looking for a show bike, please look elsewhere. If you are looking to race with good parts on a competitive bike that I as well as a few other select riders have ridden to numerous first places and championship wins, then this is your bike. The condition of the bike is very good overall, but here are the items I feel I should disclose to the unaware so as not to disappoint later. · This bike has been down. Don’t cry, it is straight as an arrow, but suffered a few nicks in the gravel pit. · The tachometer housing is a bit smooshed around the ring, but works perfect. · The tank badges have scratches and nicks all over them · The bike was stored in Florida for 3 months and the salt air ate the hell out of the OEM clear coat powder seal on the engine covers. I polished the right sides so far and the clutch cover and the valve covers could use it if you desire. Probably cost you $150 at a good polishing shop to do it all. · Although we try like hell to keep these clear, we do not race them with the sprocket covers for weight reasons and there are some greasy stains down there from the chain throwing muck that a good detail should take care of · The tank has a nickel sized dinger in it right above the right side tank badge (NOT BAD, BUT NOT PERFECT) · Overall the tank as well as the other assorted bodywork could use a fresh coat of paint someday as it takes a beating from other riders, sponsor stickers, and blast at 135mph at Daytona. The fork legs have some scratches as well. Sticker removal and such. · The motor was freshened up at the dealer with a valve job and rings 2 seasons ago. These are literally bullet-proof motors. This is a bone stock motorcycle that has only been on the track. Although hard miles there are only a few thousand at most on the motor. I stated 4500 as an estimate in the listing. May be more or less. I would race this tomorrow if I were still in the game at that level. My time is taken up with AMA pro XR1200 Harley racing these days. Those bikes are a nightmare compared to the Thruxton in everyway I a$$ure you. We are rebuilding them a few times a season and blowing up $400 clutch baskets almost every weekend compared with the Thruxton that has never acted up and had great components. As far as the spares go on the street side, there are all of the major elements there, but you will most likely have to purchase a few small end items like a speedo drive unit )$60 on ebay), and a few other small items, but for the most part, this a very complete list with major components covered. The headlight bucket has a ding in it and you will most likely want to replace it if going for a show bike. I was not) STREET PARTS NCLUDED · Headlight with inner ring · Handlebar control switch with harness · OEM rear shocks · Rear fender with tail light and signal assembly slightly scratched up a bit from moving around over 5 years · Air filter stock · 2 mirrors · Kickstand with spring · 2 OEM mufflers in very nice, but not perfect condition · Speedometer with 522 miles and cable without the drive unit, I never had it. · Horn · 2 front fork upper chrome covers for headlight ears (scratched a bit) · Extra set of turn signals with bracket I am very attached to this bike and it took me 3 years of not racing it while looking at it in a corner to sell it. I have 20 bikes currently and am looking to relocate soon out of state. This move will be helped by thinning the heard of motorcycles. I hope that you can see that someone out there is going to get a great deal on a ready to go bike for the season. Please feel free to call me any time before the end of the auction at eight four seven three four one four eight one zero to ask as many relevant questions about this bike prior to bidding. You are buying a used racebike!!!! This is like dating a stripper. There are some things you may need to tidy up, but it’s on hell of a ride when you’re at speed! The nitty gritty: · This is a used racebike, not a trailer queen. If you are saddened by scratches and dings, do not bid · If you buy this bike, you own it and I will collect from you prior to transferring the bike to you. You are responsible and I will assume you do not need your wife or your cat’s permission to buy this bike. Simply put, do not buy this bike if you feel you will back out. · I will ship this bike at the buyer’s full expense plus a reasonable pre negotiated handling rate for my time. This must be negotiated prior to the auction end in emailed writing so as to honor the agreement. I will also deliver this bike to the AHRMA round at Road America in June is so desired for $50.00 · I reserve the right to sell the bike locally and end the auction early should I so choose · I will deliver the bike up to 200 miles for $300 from Elgin IL 60120 · I do have other race parts and you are welcome to look at my other auctions, or ask if there is something you are looking for. · Last but not least, I understand that this will be a sizeable chunk of change for someone. I am OK answering any questions you may have, but please do not waste my time and I will not waste yours. I have a day job and am not a motorcycle shop. GOOD LUCK!!!!
