Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette L48. The car has been garage kept since bought in 1998. Check out my youtube video of the car to hear it and see it run. Before bidding, if you have any questions, please contact me, I will try to respond that same day. http://youtu.be/rUflcHuuRFY Now for the technical stuff 1980 Chevrolet Corvette L48 VIN: 1Z878AS432758 Power Train The engine is a V8-350ci L-48, numbers matching, original to the car. The engine was rebuilt about 8,400 miles ago when the speedometer was replaced. I still have the original carburetor, it has been replaced by an Edelbrock carb, and it is included in the auction. The engine ran fine, I had it rebuilt to make the car more reliable and to increase performance from the stock motor. The transmission is a 3 speed automatic and has not been rebuilt. Exhaust The exhaust is original and needs some repair or replacement. There is an exhaust leak under the car somewhere which needs to be fixed. I’ve wrapped the headers and pipes under the driver’s floorboard in heat tape to reduce the heat coming into the car. Also the starter has been insulated to help with overheating. The mufflers do need to be replaced. Brakes/Suspension/Frame All calipers and pads along with the parking brake shoes have been replaced. The front and rear wheels have been aligned with new bushing installed on the front. The frame is solid with some minor surface rust in places as seen in the pictures. Exterior The car was painted red before I bought the car; the original color was Dark Blue Metallic. One of the previous owners had badge the car as a L82, it is NOT a L82, (check the VIN). There are some minor chips around the headlights. The front splitter has some damage from hitting wheel stops. Both headlights do work. The tee tops are in great shape. I don’t know if they leak, the car hasn’t seen rain since I’ve owned it. Interior The interior is original, with leather seats. No rips or tears. All gauges work, the clock has been replace. There are signs of wear on some of the trim, mostly the painted edges. I’ve added switches to kill the power to the radio for long term storage, to prevent the power antenna from working, and one for a fan to blow. All three are below the steering wheel. 1980 Corvette Specifications Mechanical Dimensions Feature Coupe Wheelbase 98 inches (2.489 m) Overall Length 185.2 inches (4.704 m) Overall Width 69.0 inches (1.753 m) Overall height 48 inches (1.219 m) Ground Clearance 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) Front Tread 58.7 inches (1.491 m) Rear Tread 59.5 inches (1.511 m) Wheel Size 15 x 8 inches Tires P225/70R-15 SBR (steel-belted radial) Positraction Standard Steering Recirculating ball Front Suspension Independent, unequal-length control arms with ball joints, coil springs, and stabilizer bar Rear Suspension Independent, trailing link, transverse semi-elliptic leaf springs Brakes Hydraulic, vented four wheel discs; 11.75-inch diameter, single calipers Ignition HEI electronic Body Construction Separate fiberglass body and box-type ladder frame with cross-members Fuel Tank 24 US Gal (20 Imp Gal) (91 liters) Now for the really boring stuff, VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ Auction For local buyers, you can see the car in person prior to bidding.
