Vehicle Detail

This Bavaria appears to be an all original, complete and well cared for car with 97k miles. It starts up immediately and idles at 800 rpm as it should. Mechanically, the clutch, gearbox, brakes and engine work great, but the head gasket needs replacement. Once the car reaches operating temperature, it will blow white steam from the tailpipe and the coolant reservoir will drain eventually. I can see no evidence of engine oil in the coolant, but there is coolant in the oil. The alternator light stayed on when I started it for the photo, so it may need an alternator. Body is straight and extremely rust free, but it does have peeling clear coat on the upper sections and will need paint to be shiny and new looking again. The only rust I can find is a couple of bubbles on the trunk lid edge near the lock, see photo (I will get a better photo of that area asap). All doors, hood and trunk open and close well and solid, no sagging or alignment issues. All glass is excellent. Some of the rubber trim is dry, but it is all there. All brightwork, lights, bumpers and trim are present. Interior is complete, including original owners manual in glovebox. Door panels and headliner are excellent. Dash top has several cracks in normal places and style. Front seats show some cracking and are going soft. Rear seat looks excellent. Carpet is all present and in good condition, the worst is the driver's floor that shows wear on the foot pad. All switchgear is present and I believe works as it should. There is a period correct Blaupunkt radio installed, possibly original. The driver's seat has part of the plastic adjuster handle broken, and included, but is still usable as is. Parking brake works and gauges work. The trunk is very nice, with complete or nearly complete tool kit inside a very nice tool tray. The vinyl covering on the underside of the trunk has sagged and is falling. It is not torn, I just think that the car sitting since last year has caused the cover to sag and fall. I have it held up temporarily in the photos. Tires are very good Michelin, but a few years old, so probably plan to replace them. The spare is a Pirelli P77 on a steel wheel. I have a parts car with five OEM alloys that are available (as is the parts car or parts off of it, it is listed locally for parts). Overall this is one of the most solid and complete Bavarias you will find and is a great starting point for an engine update swap and paint, and you will have a very nice car. Or restore what is here and keep it original. I have a clear Colorado title in my possession. The car is located in Gateway, Colorado, a rural community approx one hour southwest of Grand Junction. I am moving this month and the car will need to be picked up by approx April 20. It will drive itself onto a trailer no problem, but I would not drive it any more than that. I will answer all questions as well as possible, but know that I purchased the car in its present state as a restoration project and have no history with it beyond that and info given to me by the previous owner. I am moving now and can't take it with me. I have a clear Colorado title in my possession. Located in Western Colorado, will help with shipping pickup, but all costs are buyer's. Moving soon and car will need to be picked up by April 20. Starting bid is $500, Buy ir Now $1800, or make an offer. I could not find the Best Offer feature when listing, but if you are a serious buyer, I am open to offers. On Apr-14-14 at 19:01:01 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: The Bavaria has Weber carbs under the original air cleaner, and it will come with a sunroof visor, not currently installed. New pic added of the center dash. Please email if you would like a better photo of the instruments or the rear trunk edge rust bubbles. Ebay will not allow me to delete any existing photos or add more photos. Thanks.
