Vehicle Detail
1972 Mach 1 This car is a “SURVIVOR”. I purchased it last year (2013) with intentions of taking it back to original specs. However life has found a way of changing my plans. I found it on jack stands, in a barn, south of Albuquerque NM. I moved it from that barn - to my barn in Cedar Crest NM – haha. The story I got from the Previous Owner (PO) was that the car was acquired from a small museum in Washington State. The PO had it shipped to NM where it has spent the last couple of decades (20+ years). The PO had done quite a bit of work on the car over the years tailoring it to “his” taste. The PO said he started it weekly and drove it on occasion in good weather After buying the car I did have the pleasure of driving it last spring, gathering looks and a crowd everywhere I went. The car is stored indoors and does get started regularly and driven. The attached pictures are of the car are as it came out of my barn. I have not washed or detailed the car since I bought it. The PO did the following that I know of. Installed late model mustang wheels and tiresInstalled new exhaustInstalled traction barsRelocated battery to trunkMounted extra gauges on dashReplaced door panels with white Recovered front and rear seats with white Replaced carpet Installed B & M shifterInstalled white face decals on gaugesInstalled a mini amp and speakers for I-podPlaced a fire extinguisher between front seatsInstalled blue steering wheelInstalled blue seatbelts Installed rear deck spoilerInstalled front spoilerUpgraded dash speakerInstalled Edelbrock 4v carb, air cleaner, and intakeInstalled M/T valve coversInstalled new distributor/coilInstalled ram air flapper delete platesRebuilt front suspensionInstalled shocks What I have done Professionally Rebuilt 351 Cleveland (<100 miles on rebuild)Professionally Installed Traction Lock rear diff (3:00 to 1?)Installed new rear axle seals and bearings I have the original Ram Air Cleaner, windshield wiper arms and a few misc. items. Everything else is as pictured. Motor had never been apart and is original to the car. It is estimated a little over 300 HP per builder. I will try to get more specs on the motor if I can. The C6 transmission has been in the car prior to the PO. He believed it to be original to the car and was installed in place of the FMX at the factory and not listed on the build sheet – I cannot verify that. Marti report attached – 1 of 66 built with Trim/paint code – GRABBER BLUE w/ Argent Silver - Original paint car (has factory orange peel) – NO RUST anywhere – Never wrecked – minimal paint damage as noted - original low mileage @ 71,001. This is a CLEAN CAR. The Buyer is responsible for picking up and/or shipping car. I will Title will not be released until funds are in my bank.
