Vehicle Detail

SWEPTLINE FANS. You are bidding on a 1968 DODGE D-100, LWB (Long Wheel Base), 2 wheel drive, compound low 4 speed, Sweptline style bed truck. It has POWER NOTHING. Manual drum brakes, roll up windows, NO A/C and manual steering. NOTHING TO BREAK! About the truck. I saved this truck from what was a certain trip to a salvage yard about 6 years ago. It had sat on property for 22 years previous to that, baking in the AZ sun. THIS IS AS RUST FREE AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET! Being a fan of the Sweptline body, I could not see it as scrap. It was already a fairly complete truck and needed little to make it road-worthy again. I had planned on selling it once it was drivable, but I changed my mind and have been using it ever since. The registration expired end of March and I was driving about 40 miles a day I it. I am not saying it is a perfect driver. But IT HAS BEEN and CAN BE DRIVEN! The reason it is time for a new home is that it is not set up to do the level of work I need at this stage in my life. A half ton will never be able to do what a 1 ton can, so it is time to pass her along to another good home to complete the journey I began. THE GOOD: RUST FREE. The ignition has been changed to a Petronix Unit, making the usual points problems go away. TRI-BAR Halogen Headlights. CUSTOM ONE OF A KIND GAUGE CLUSTER with all new gauges were put in about two years ago. I have put on over 8000 miles since then. Upgraded to a dual pot master cyl. NEW Clutch master cyl. and new slave cyl. NEW clutch was put in a couple years ago. NEW alternator, voltage regulator, starter, starter relay and many other parts have been replaced since I have owned it. ALL GOOD GLASS! Windshield does have a couple of chips but NO CRACKS! SET UP AS A SUPER SIX! That means it have an Factory Aluminum Intake with a TWO BARRELL carb, rather than the 1bbl it came with. NEW Visors, (the visors themselves are actually off a 69 Ford Torino fitted to the D-100 visor bars. Work perfect, look good. HEATER BOX AND CORE completely rebuilt! There is a lot more. If you have questions, ask. THE BAD: NEEDS TIRES SOON. You will get a few hundred more miles out of these but not much more. They are pretty bald. BURNS OIL. It has good oil pressure, (25 idle 45 driving) but to drive it every day it needs a steady diet of oil. About a quart a week. There are no real leaks so it is just blowing by. GAUGES INOP. Although all the gauges and the small tach hare new, not all of them have been installed. The gas guage is a VDO unit but does not read correctly because the truck has never had the right sending unit in it. I use the math method for filling up. I know it gets an average of about 15-16 mpg. I just count miles on the speedometer and fill up about every 200 miles. that leaves a pretty good safety margin. YOU ARE GETTING THE TRUCK WITH A FULL TANK! (That is worth about $60 by itself!) Temp gauge has never been hooked up. Previous to me, the block plug was sealed in, and I have not found a thermostat housing with the correct hole to put in the sending unit. Since replacing the cap and the overflow unit, it does not seem to overheat in normal use. I just check the water level every couple days just in case. TURN SIGNAL LEVER. WORKS but does not cancel and is worn to the point that when you hit a good bump, it will drop and turn on the left blinker. Annoying but not a show stopper. EMISSIONS. It did not pass on first pass this year. High HC. Usually corrected by tweaking the carb settings and backing off the timing. Same procedure for almost any older car here in AZ. You have one free test left when it is yours should you decide to tweak it yourself. STEERING. Has quite a bit of play. Front end should be rebuild. Driving is kind of like steering a boat wheel but you get used to it. DOOR LOCKS. Do not work, but they are easily replaced (I do have a new set with key that might work, will come with truck). SEAT. This seat is out of about a 1979. Fits and works well, but the floor could use a little more stiffening if this seat is to be retained. Makes a popping sound when you hit a bump. RADIO. Is a hole filler. Worked in the vehicle I pulled it from but has never been wired in. THE UGLY: I have called it my RAT DODGE for a reason! It has all the PATINA of a truck that is 46 years old! Decided early on that I was not going to change that anytime soon! It DOES HAVE SOME DENTS! The worst is on the back but there is NOTHING that cannot be pulled and repaired. There is also a crease across the hood but as with the rear, it can be fixed. THE DEAL: At the end of this auction Payment will be through PAY-PAL or CASH! I WILL NOT ACCEPT, Credit cards, Transfers, Money Orders, Trades, Payments or ANYTHING ELSE! NO EXCEPTIONS! I will not wait for payment! If you are fully prepared to pay in full and take possession DON'T BID! I have ZERO TOLERANCE for unprepared people and non-paying bidders. I follow EBay's guidelines to the letter so if I have not seen payment after 4 days, I will start the non-paying bidder process. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS! I will drive it on a trailer if you desire and that is it. I am a retired cop and have seen almost every possible scam DON'T TRY IT! I have a signed title in hand ready to go. You hand me money I give you a title, ignition keys and truck box keys. THIS TRUCK IS AS IS WHERE IS! You bid, you win, you pay and YOU ARE AN OWNER! NO RESERVE! I am starting basically at scrap value. It is worth way more. There IS NO BUY IT NOW. Winner at the end owns it. I WILL NOT end it early for any amount! Not fair to bidders. GOOD LUCK! Ask if you have questions!
