Photos speak for themselves. The glossy paint is all original and there is zero collision history. Car was purchased new by my father in 2000, and has been in the family the entire time - I know the history. Garage-kept since new. Upgraded stereo speakers - best the Crutchfield sells for this model. New floor mats. Body is all-aluminum. Interior is nearly flawless. Seats are in great shape. The gas motor runs great - instant start, rated power, no leaks, no oil consumption. All scheduled maintenance has been performed since the car was new. Always adult driven - Dad was 92 when we took away the keys over his objections. Driven daily since 2010. The worst case on the IMA is a $2500 battery replacement. I am OK with the price reflecting the repair cost, but the enthusiast community has lots of on-line information for keeping old batteries working. The battery was replaced about six years ago under warranty, and the IMA worked fine until recently. I hope to see this car find a home with someone who appreciates how special it is - the first and still be best hybrid electric on the US market. EPA highway rating was 70 MPG, and there are driving techniques to take that number past 100. At the same time, the handling and acceleration reach sport car levels, at least when the electric boost is operating. Check my feedback - I take really good care of my cars, and next owners are always happy with their purchase.On Apr-11-14 at 19:26:15 PDT, seller added the following information: I took the suggestion and checked the 12 volt battery, which is charged by the IMA system. It had two cells with cloudy and thick electrolyte. I replaced the 12 volt battery, and sure enough the 144 volt IMA battery charged up and the IMA now works as well as it ever has - pulls long grades without running out of charge. I do not know how long it will last, but the problem with the IMA appears to be fixed.On Apr-11-14 at 20:02:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Extras included with the sale include the factory service manual and bottle of touch-up paint. Most of the miles on the car are highway miles. The car is tight and rattle-free with the exception of an occasional sound from the front hood latch. That is so minor that i have not attended to the simple adjustment. The engine has even compression and idles smoothly at 800 RPM. Shift action of the transmission is grunch-free. Lean burn is working as it should and the fuel econ is in the high 50 mpg range. Fuel econ will improve when the tires are replaced with the correct OE low-rolling-resistance tires. The ride and handling of the existing tires are quite good. All services including wiper blades and fluid changes are current, so there is no problem driving a long distance to get the car to a new home. I live 36 miles from the Atlanta airport and can meet you there if anyone wants to fly in and drive home. I am confident enough of the condition of the car that anyone buying sight-unseen has the option to back out with deposit refunded in full if the car does not meet your expectations. This is not to say the car is perfect as there are some paint blemishes and there is a small rock chip low and out-of-sight in an otherwise excellent windshield. Locals who have looked at the car ask to end the auction early and sell them the car. Somebody will be getting an excellent deal.
