Selling my 1962 VW Karmann Ghia. This is a nice example of a "Driver" condition Ghia. Washington Title in hand with matching VIN on Body and Pan. While redoing the car it was done with a driver in mind.. not a show car. The car was off the road since 1994. I purchased the car with intentions of giving it a new life. Here are some of the things that have been done. Mechanical.. Starting with the brakes.. It got a brand new Master Cylinder, Wheel Cylinders, Rear Shoes, Hard Line from front to rear, Reservoir and reservoir line. The brakes are like brand new. The Dual port 1600cc engine got a full tune up including points, cap, rotor, plugs, filter, valve adjustment, oil change.. also added is a rebuilt by Volksbitz Pict28-1 Carb with 12V choke. Compression check was performed and all were above 100psi. All the fuel lines and fuel system was cleaned out including the tank. All the electrical was sorted out and all the lights work. We replace the front steering box with one that turns freely then set the tow to 1/8 in tow in. The car rides nice and smooth and steers tight. The front beam is adjustable and rolls 135 series tires up front and 165's out back. When the interior was torn down we used POR15 on the interior floors and kick panels. We added sound deadening to the floor prior to cutting carpet to glue in. The Seats and door panels were reconditioned for a fresh look with vinyl paint. As you can see from the pics the seats inserts are a bit dry and starting to rip. Overall the intention was to create a nice driver so the interior looks decent and is functional. We added the new dash cover as well. On the exterior we sanded it down and filled the minor dents and dings. The paint used was a Satin Cinnamon for the body and a Satin Ivory for the Roof and wheels. The bumpers are original as is the chrome trim on the sides. All are in used condition for a nice driver not a show car. Although if you took it to a show you would probably get some nice attention. Here is a short list of loose ends that I need to mention. Rear View mirror is a bit loose and doesn't like to stay put in one place No exterior side mirrors Starter is still 6v and cranks fast but she is a bit cold blooded and needs to warm a bit before she purrs like a kitten Front tires show some weather checking Horn is present but missing the horn relay so it is inop Has wiper arms but needs new blades before installing Rear License plate light housing doesn't have lights in it and is missing the chrome trim Rear Karmann Ghia trunk badge is missing We don't have many miles on the car so I'm sure there are some other little bugs you will need to work out of it but its a great start to a fun little car. Like any old car I wouldn't buy it and expect to drive across country to get it home.. I'd recommend having it hauled on trailer until you can build some trust and so she makes it home safe.
