Vehicle Detail
Offered here is a 1959 Austin Healey Mark 1 Vintage Race Car. I purchased the car in 1997. The car has been inactive for 16 years and has been stored in a well-ventilated, dry automotive shop. History of work done on car: In 2006, the 948cc/.040 overbore engine was completely rebuilt. Also, the transmission was checked and cleaned separately. The car comes with 1 1/4 inch carburetors. These carburetors were completely rebuilt with Roller Bearing Shafts. I installed new engine motor mounts. I also rebuilt the rear wheel brake cylinders, installed new brake shoes and front disk pads, and a duel brake master cylinder was added as well. I installed new electrical wiring, new hard metal fuel lines, (car has fuel pressure gauge) along with a new fuel pump, new stainless steel oil lines, and new rubber water and ventilation hoses. I also had the cylinder header ceramic coated and I had the welding slag, inside the header pipe, removed to allow better exhaust flow. A new exhaust pipe with a Super Trap Exhaust Pipe was installed. Car has: Front disk brakes, an additional oil cooler, stainless steel flex lines, rib cage gear box, light weight fly wheel, limited slip differential. It has a full race bar cage, drilled for inspection with commissioned number, (19 220) stamped on the roll cage. The battery box is in the engine compartment on the right side for easy access and better weight distribution. The battery box cover has Dzus Fasteners for easy access to the battery. It also has a fire extinguisher, and a 5 point Pro racing safety harness. The bonnet or hood is fiberglass which tilts forward for easy access to the engine. The tires are YOKOHAMAS with no mileage on them. The rear end is a Panhard Suspension, with single trailing link and a top mounted swaybar. Recent work done: All new fluids, compression tested, 180 p.s.i. in all four cylinders, oil pressure 85-90 p.s.i. cold 60-65 p.s.i. hot. The car started on the third try, sounds great and runs strong. This is a rust free car. The car is sold "AS IS" with no warranty, and with a bill of sale. This would be a great car for the Vintage Racer.
