Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1988 Mercedes 300 E sedan. This one has been kept in pretty good condition for its age. The big straight 6-cylinder is a very reliable unit, and does not smoke or overheat. I have noticed that it occasionally has a hunting idle, but overall it runs well and drives nicely. The transmission shifts normally through all of the gears. The suspension handles well, and the brakes are strong. This car is not MD state inspected, but has a VA inspection sticker that expires next month, so it has not been off the road. The white exterior is in average condition for the age. It has the expected little dings and scratches here and there, and a small dent on the rear, passenger’s side corner. There is no visible rust. The exterior lights all work, but the front, passenger’s side turn signal lens is broken and will need to be replaced. The rear tires have good tread, but the front driver’s side tire has wear on the outer edge, so it may need a front end alignment. There is also a star on the windshield. The tan interior of the car appears to be in slightly better than average condition. There are no cracks in the dash, the seats are all in great shape, with just a small tear on the driver’s seat lumbar support. The carpets are clean, and the car still has its factory floor mats. The headliner is in perfect shape, no sagging. The power mirror, power seats, power locks and power sunroof all work. The power windows work, except for the rear, passenger’s side window. The aftermarket radio works, and the motorized antenna still goes up and down. Cruise control works. The heater works, but the blower fan is not working, so it may have a blown fuse, or need a new fan. The oil pressure gauge does not work, but I have driven the car regularly over the past week and it does not make any noises indicating low oil pressure. I have seen the “check engine” light come on a couple of times, but both times it went off after a few seconds. This would be a good car for someone looking for an older Mercedes sedan. This car is not in showroom condition, it has some faults, and I have described all of those faults that I have found, but it is a nice, reliable car. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule. I am selling this car on behalf of my father because he does not use the internet. This car is owned by his small, used car dealership. Since this car is owned by a dealership, the buyer has the option of getting a 2-month temp tag, so that he or see can legally drive the car home. PLEASE READ: This car is over 20 years old, so it will be sold as a historic vehicle. Payment is to be made in cash. Paypal and Bank Transfers are not cash, cash is physical, paper money. If you are a long-distance bidder, ensure that you will be able to have someone bring the cash payment and collect the titlework. A $100 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end. This can be paid through Paypal. The remainder is to be paid in cash at the time of pick-up. Since this car is being sold by a dealership, if on arrival for pick-up the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. If the winning bidder is a Maryland resident, they must pay a 6% sales tax on the final bid, and a $100 title processing fee. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up.
