Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very nice 1972 Buick Centurion convertible that I'm listing for my brother. The car looks great, runs out very strong and has the big block 455 V8 with a TH 400 transmission. This is a numbers matching car and comes with the original window sticker and build sheet. The miles are true at 106,890. I will list all I know about the car but you will need to call my brother for any and all questions you might have. I have listed his name and phone number below so you can contact him directly about the car. Narrative: This car was originally purchased as a new vehicle on November 1, 1972 by William C. Bunn of Zebulon, NC from Grill Buick - Pontiac of Zebulon NC with two miles on the odometer. It was assembled at the GM plant in Wilmington, DE on October 21, 1971. The original owner's manual, new vehicle warranty card, window sticker and build sheet come with the car ( has a lager file of receipts as well ). The original purchase price was $4,162.00 Mr. Bunn owned the car until he passed away, and was subsequently was used by his wife and family until the late 1990's. The car was then sold to Frank Gentile of Raleigh NC on May 12, 1997. At that time the had 79,516 miles on the odometer. In 1998 Mr. Gentile was transferred to Texas and sold the car to Bruce Payne on December 12, 1998 with 82,318 miles on the odometer. My brother then purchased the car from Mr. Payne in November of 2012. In 1998 Mr. Payne did the following work: New gaskets, seals, belts, filters, hoses, plugs, wires, etc; new axle bearings, new windshield, new antennae, heavy duty springs & shocks on all four corners, added rear stabilizer bar, added duel exhaust, replaced points & distributor with HEI ignition, replaced the soft top, replaced window motors and the R-12 air conditioning system was reduilt. In 1999 Mr. Payne had the exterior sanded down to bear metal and repainted using acrylic paint and cleared coated. The original paint color was used during the said repaint. The original paint color code is #43 Seamist Green Iridescent ( same color was used during the repaint of the car ). In 2000 Mr. Payne replaced the original wheels with 17 x 8' and added 255 / 60 R 17 Goodyear Eagle GT tires. The car does come with the original wheels and center caps if you choose to take the car back to the stock look. In 2004 Mr. Payne had the transmission completely rebuilt and quick shift kit was added. The drive shaft was replaced and the original .291 rear gears were replaced with .383 gears and positive traction was also added. A quick ratio steering unit was added to improve steering and handling. In 2009 Mr. Payne replaced the intake manifold and carburetor with an Edlebrock intake manifold and Edlebrock 750 carburetor and new air filter assembly. The original four barrel Quadrajet carburetor and air cleaner come with the car. Also, during Mr. Payne's ownership he replaced the gas tank, water pump, oil pump and did the brakes. In November of 2012 my brother purchased the car from Mr. Payne and in the fall of 2013 he had the following work completed: new plugs, new ignition wires, new distributor cap, new rotor button, new points, new air filter and complete oil change and all fluids topped off. It is now time for my brother to pass the car along to a new owner. The car looks very good and drives out fantastic. The top does need to have a bit of fitting work done on the passengers side as seen in the photos and the top latches need some repairs ( the top it's self looks to be in very good condition ). The top secures fine but needs the use of a screw driver to be secured due to the latch handles needing some repair. The interior looks very good over all but does have one seam on the drivers seat that has separated and needs to be sewn up ( about 4 inches long right in the seam ). If you have any questions about the car please contact my brother Curtis at 865-803-6106 as I'm only listing the car for him. The car is located in Kingston TN 37763. Also, the car is ensured through Haggerty's Classic Cars with an agreed value of $16,000. The car runs / drives great and looks very nice but due to its age it is being sold "as is". I highly recommend that you call my brother and speak to high about the car prior to bidding to ensure you know everything about the car. The car is available to be seen and driven at anytime day or night during the auction ( you would need to call Curtis and set up a day and time for showing ).
