Classic micro car 1968 Fiat 850 Sedan Autostick (Idrocovert). Water cooled rear engine. New head job, gasket. New belts. A lot of mechanical parts are interchangeable between the 850 Variants, the spider and coupe. No rust. Originally blue, painted red by previous owner. No body damage. All electrical system works. Starts right up, no smoke. The paint is starting to peel in certain places. The chrome has some pitting. The interior is clean, no rips. I don't have the spare tire, headliner, or air cleaner or original rims. What you see is what you get. Clean California title. Same size as a classic Mini Cooper. Drove it on the freeway in Southern California, handles nicely at 65. I have a sales brochure and owner's manual to go with the Fiat. History on Fiat 850 Sedan Idroconvert With its small, rear-engine 850 model doing well in the marketplace, for 1968 Fiat introduced an improved version, designated 850 Special. The 850, which had been new for 1964, featured an 843 cc water-cooled four at the rear, and a four-speed transaxle, fully-synchronized with Porsche synchros. It developed 34 bhp, 37 in a high-performance version. Seating was comfortable and a top speed of 75 mph was comparable with some 1,100 cc cars like the Morris Minor or Ford Anglia. At the 1965 Geneva motor show a fastback coupe was introduced, a 2+2 with 47 bhp engine. This particular example is the 'Idroconvert' model which has a semi automatic gearbox along the same lines as a 'Sportomatic' Porsche. The clutch is electric and it is on the top of the gear lever shifter, which means that the car can start in first, second, third or fourth gear and when you stop on a red traffic light you can keep the car in gear with your foot on the brake and the engine will idle. When you want to go again you just press on the accelerator like in a "normal" automatic car. While you are in fourth gear, if you would like to pass a car, you can downshift in to third or even second gear, just using the shifter lever.
