Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs...A nice road-worthy 1979 Triumph Bonneville Special. Just serviced, fresh fluids, carbs cleaned and sync'd, new tires, new battery, new fuel lines, new exhaust system. Starts and runs great. Left-hand shift, negative ground, disc brakes, electronic ignition (note: "ignition" not "start")...a truly modern motorcycle...for 1972...that came out in 1979....well, you know the story! The original Lucas RITA ignition system gave up it's smoke long ago, so we replaced it with a slightly more modern Boyer equivalent. Bike is in good cosmetic shape for its age, but not perfect. There is a small ding on the right side of the gas tank, original frame powder coat looks like all the other from that era: a little dulled, a little flaky, but not bad. Mag wheels are in great shape. This would make a great vintage rider for someone, or could make the basis of a killer cafe' (those Lester wheels look SOOOO cool!). This bike has been fully serviced and inspected by our shop, but (because this is ebay) it must be said: it's a 40 year old British bike. It will probably leak oil, it will probably vibrate something off, you will need to check and adjust your valves, play with your carbs, you will always smell like burnt petroleum when you ride it (I'd count that as a plus, but that's just me), and your neighbors may complain that it's not a Toyota Prius. Also note, we will no longer accept bids from bidders with feedback less than 10. If you are one of the new guys that just figured out ebay, email or call us and we can discuss other options. This bike is for sale locally so we reserve the right to end this auction at any time. You are always welcome to come by to check this and all our other bikes out during normal business hours. Thanks and feel free to call or email with any questions! Baxter Cycle has been in business for 35 years and is a dealer for Hinckley-based Triumphs. We sell a large variety of parts for all makes of British bikes, specializing in Triumph, BSA, and Norton. Our parts inventory grows daily. We strive to provide the highest levels of service to our customers and we always welcome any feedback. Give us a call if you need anything for your British bike, modern or vintage! (712) 781-2351
