This car is less than 20 years old and it has not been Maryland State Inspected, therefore it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2000 Lexus LS400. This is the flagship model for this year of Lexus. It is a big, luxurious, fast car. For its size, this car is surprisingly quick. The legendary 4.0L U1Z-FE 32-valve quadcam V8 produces 290hp and 300 ft-lbs torque, and will definitely push you back in your seat, but still can get 23mpg on the highway. The engine in this car runs well and does not miss a beat. When you first start it up in the morning there is a puff of oil smoke from the exhaust, but that clears after a couple of seconds, and it does not smoke anymore after that. I have been told that that is due to small leaks at the valve seals, not bad rings. The transmission shifts through all of its gears. When you first start driving and the car is cold, the shifts are a little bit sluggish, but after a few minutes of driving it warms up and behaves and shifts normally, no slipping. The car handles beautifully on the road. The ride is soft, but not bouncy, and the car feels firmly planted. The brakes are good, and the tires have tread. This car does have over 325K miles on it, so you expect some wear and tear on all of its components, but for the amount of mileage, it is still in good shape. The interior of the car is what you would expect from a top of the line Lexus. Lots of leather and power options. Driver, passenger and side airbags. The power windows, seats, door locks and sunroof all work. The leather seats are heated. It has the Lexus factory radio with tape cassette player and a CD-stacker in the glovebox. There are separate climate controls for the driver and passenger. There is a telescoping steering column. The dash gauges and lights all work, and the car does not overheat. There are cruise control and A/C options. The interior is showing some wear. The leather on the seats and driver’s armrest and interior door handle has some cracking and staining. The headliner looks OK, but the carpets are a little dirty and could use a clean. The previous owner glued a tom tom mount to the dash, but that could be removed and the glue cleaned off. The heater works well, but the blower fan is a little noisey. The power mirror on the driver’s side works fine, but the passenger’s side power mirror is not working, and someone has done a DIY repair by gluing a small, wide-angle mirror on top of the factory mirror. The dash is flashing a warning for “tail lamp bulb out,” but they all appear to be working, and another warning for “brake wear.” The check engine light did come on while I was driving the car. I had the codes checked and they were P0430 and P0420. These relate to the exhaust / catalyst system. From reading online, it looks like one of 3 things triggers these codes: 1. There are exhaust leaks upstream from the 02 sensors, 2. The 02 sensors are bad and need to be replaced, 3. The catalytic converters are bad and need to be replaced. The car is still perfectly drivable. The exterior of the car is average for the amount of mileage. There is no rust. The green paint has some fading and a few scratches and dings here and there, but would probably shine up well with a good wax job. This Lexus would make a good daily driver for someone looking to get a cheap luxo-cruiser. It is does have high mileage, but it also has that legendary Toyota reliability, and in my opinion, is in good condition for its mileage. That is my subjective opinion, so please read the description fully, examine the supersized pictures and come see / drive the car in person so that you can form your own opinion before bidding.
