I have included almost 100 pictures to provide the full story on this car, so be sure to check them out. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so if something is plainly obvious in the pictures, I may not repeat it in the description that follows. That said, if anything is unclear or if I left out something you'd like to know, please feel free to ask before bidding. I will happily answer any questions. If you think you saw this car listed last week, you're right. I'm having to re-list it because last week's high bidder really wanted it...but didn't have the wherewithal to complete the transaction timely. If you bid, please be ready to purchase the car within the timeframes set out in my terms and conditions. This car is 17 years old and has some miles on it. It is not showroom new. But it is still a good running/driving and nice looking BMW. The silver paint is over all good, as you can see from the pictures. On up-close inspection, there are a couple spots of so-so paint as well as some of the normal scratches, chips and dings you would expect for the age and mileage. All in all, though, it is a good-looking car. Be sure to check out all the pictures for the complete story. The interior of this car is in over all good condition as well. The climate control A/C is cold. The aftermarket stereo sounds good. The headliner isn't the greatest, the airbag light is on, the spare is missing, and there are pixels out on the message display in the dashboard (pictured). The rear window regulators were just replaced, and all of the power windows work. The windows are nicely tinted. All in all this is a good interior. The pictures pretty much tell the story here as well, so be sure to check them all out for all the details on the interior. This car comes with the one key with working aftermarket clicker/alarm fob, pictured, and the BMW rubber floormats pictured in the trunk. OK, so on to the main reason why you're looking at this listing: This car is fitted with BMW's 282 HP 4.4 litre V8 and the rare 6-speed manual transmission. The car fires right up and runs smoothly. The idle is so smooth, I have gotten in this car as a passenger and not realized it was running already. I believe the engine to be very sound. I also just had it serviced, which included a new PCV valve and new knock sensors (which are very labor-intensive jobs that cost me almost a grand). When you get on it, the engine sounds great and makes teriffic power. The shift action isn't like new, but the transmission shifts through all of its gears fine. Last week, I had a number of potential bidders ask questions expressing concern over the transmission because of this comment, and 3 people asked me if the clutch was operational. Neither the transmission nor the clutch is dead; in fact the car shifts very well for the age and mileage. I made the comment because it feels a little thick and requires a little more deliberate action, particularly into 3rd, for the first few minutes of driving while it warms up. Like alot of cars, once warmed up for a few minutes, it shifts fine. It doesn't grind into any gear ever. It doesn't refuse to go into any gear. The gates are reasonably precise. It doesn't slip at all. It will let you snap off very fast redline shifts like a willing partner. It's not new, but that should be self-evident; I made the comment because I prefer to err on the side of full disclosure. This car really is a blast to drive. It is fast. The handling is fantastic. The brakes feel good. The matching set of Continentals is in good condition. The cruise control works well. This stylish car tracks down the road very nicely. Dealer Fee. I charge a $250 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. This includes winning bids, buy it now prices, and best offers accepted. Some states also have specific forms or procedures that must be used for out-of-state purchases. 3.5.3. Tag & Title. 3.5.3.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to handle your tag and title work, and I collect an estimate of those costs at the time of sale, which range from $100 to $450 depending on your specific situation. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference before getting your tag and title. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect. 3.5.3.2. Out-of-State Buyers. I will provide you with the vehicle's title, and you will be responsible for handling the tag and title work in your state. 3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially. 3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. It is frequently less expensive to have a vehicle shipped to your location than it is to fly in and drive it back, and certainly more hassle-free. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises. Here’s a very rare 1997 E39 BMW 540i V8 with a 6-speed MANUAL TRANSMISSION up for sale. This is a NO RESERVE absolute auction with a $1 starting bid. If you like this car, now is the time to bid to win. I'm going to sell it to the high bidder. I have included almost 100 pictures to provide the full story on this car, so be sure to check them out. If you think you saw this car listed last week, you're right. I'm having to re-list it because last week's high bidder really wanted it...but didn't have the wherewithal to complete the transaction timely. This car is 17 years old and has some miles on it. It is not showroom new. But it is still a good running/driving and nice looking BMW. The silver paint is over all good, as you can see from the pictures. On up-close inspection, there are a couple spots of so-so paint as well as some of the normal scratches, chips and dings you would expect for the age and mileage. All in all, though, it is a good-looking car. Be sure to check out all the pictures for the complete story.
The interior of this car is in over all good condition as well. The climate control A/C is cold. The aftermarket stereo sounds good. The headliner isn't the greatest, the airbag light is on, the spare is missing, and there are pixels out on the message display in the dashboard (pictured). The rear window regulators were just replaced, and all of the power windows work. The windows are nicely tinted. All in all this is a good interior. The pictures pretty much tell the story here as well, so be sure to check them all out for all the details on the interior. This car comes with the one key with working aftermarket clicker/alarm fob, pictured, and the BMW rubber floormats pictured in the trunk.
OK, so on to the main reason why you're looking at this listing: This car is fitted with BMW's 282 HP 4.4 litre V8 and the rare 6-speed manual transmission. The car fires right up and runs smoothly. The idle is so smooth, I have gotten in this car as a passenger and not realized it was running already. I believe the engine to be very sound. I also just had it serviced, which included a new PCV valve and new knock sensors (which are very labor-intensive jobs that cost me almost a grand). When you get on it, the engine sounds great and makes teriffic power. The shift action isn't like new, but the transmission shifts through all of its gears fine. Last week, I had a number of potential bidders ask questions expressing concern over the transmission because of this comment, and 3 people asked me if the clutch was operational. Neither the transmission nor the clutch is dead; in fact the car shifts very well for the age and mileage. I made the comment because it feels a little thick and requires a little more deliberate action, particularly into 3rd, for the first few minutes of driving while it warms up. Like alot of cars, once warmed up for a few minutes, it shifts fine. It doesn't grind into any gear ever. It doesn't refuse to go into any gear. The gates are reasonably precise. It doesn't slip at all. It will let you snap off very fast redline shifts like a willing partner. It's not new, but that should be self-evident; I made the comment because I prefer to err on the side of full disclosure. This car really is a blast to drive. It is fast. The handling is fantastic. The brakes feel good. The matching set of Continentals is in good condition. The cruise control works well. This stylish car tracks down the road very nicely.

1. Before You Bid
1.1. Read the Vehicle Description and Ask Questions. I spend a lot of time creating my listings, and I make every effort to thoroughly, accurately and fairly describe the vehicles I offer. If you have a specific question or concern, or if I missed something, please feel free to ask. Please keep in mind that I sell pre-owned vehicles. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection.
1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding. If you would like to inspect the vehicle, please call to make arrangements. Most of my vehicles are kept inside.
1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale.
1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery as the vehicle may be driven while the auction is underway.
2. Bidding on the Vehicle
2.1. Ready to Bid? If you’re ready to bid, great! Please keep in mind a few requirements and courtesies. Please intend to, and be ready & able to (financially and otherwise), complete the purchase of the vehicle within the timeframes set out herein. Participating just for sport without the intention to complete the transaction is unfair to me and to other users, and it wastes a lot of time and money. I may obtain the registered information of users participating in my auctions, and may filter or cancel any bids in my discretion.
2.2. I May End An Auction Early. "Buy it now" auctions may end at any time if the buy it now feature is exercised or a "best offer" is accepted. I seldom end "no reserve" auctions early. However, I reserve the right to end any auction without notice at any time for any reason in my sole discretion.
3. Completing the Transaction
3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. Many of my auctions end well after normal business hours, so sending me a message through eBay is generally the best way.
3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must also pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle.
3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 3 days after the end of the auction.
3.4. Payment Methods. I accept wire transfers, cashier's checks, and cash in person (under $10,000 only). I accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars.
3.5. Fees and Taxes.
3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $250 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. This includes winning bids, buy it now prices, and best offers accepted. I don't make exceptions for other licensed dealers.
3.5.2. Sales Tax.
3.5.2.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to collect sales tax at the rate applicable in your county at the time of sale.
3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. If you have the vehicle shipped to your location, I do not collect any sales tax; you will be responsible for paying your state's sales tax directly. If you come to Florida to pick up the vehicle at my location, I am required to collect either your state's sales tax, or Florida's 6%, whichever is less. Generally, you will receive a credit in your state for sales tax collected here. If I collect our 6% because your state's rate is higher, you will be charged the balance in your state. I always recommend you check with your local tag agency first; although the vast majority of states have a reciprocal sales tax agreement with Florida, a few do not. Some states also have specific forms or procedures that must be used for out-of-state purchases.
3.5.3. Tag & Title.
3.5.3.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to handle your tag and title work, and I collect an estimate of those costs at the time of sale, which range from $100 to $450 depending on your specific situation. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference before getting your tag and title. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect.
3.5.3.2. Out-of-State Buyers. I will provide you with the vehicle's title, and you will be responsible for handling the tag and title work in your state.
3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially.
3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, in my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay in my sole discretion.
4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle
4.1. Shipping. It is frequently less expensive to have a vehicle shipped to your location than it is to fly in and drive it back, and certainly more hassle-free. I can assist you in finding a shipper and can get very competitive shipping quotes. You pay the shipper directly and are responsible for delivery arrangements. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises. Your vehicle will be available to ship out once full payment is received and has cleared; I send out titles once payment has cleared and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed.
4.2. Pick Up. I am located at 2645 NE 9th Ave in Cape Coral, Florida. I am easily accessible from US 41 and from Interstate 75. If you plan to fly in, I will pick up at RSW - Southwest Florida Int’l Airport in Fort Myers (commercial) or FMY - Page Field in Fort Myers (private) or PGD - Charlotte County Airport (commercial & private) in Punta Gorda.
