As is stated above, this is a NO RESERVE auction for a 2004 Toyota Matrix. These are great little cars that are also extremely practical. They are smaller and sportier than a station wagon, but bigger than a typical 4-door hatchback. They are easy to drive and park in the city, but also stable and smooth on the highway. You can lay the rear seats down flat for extra storage, and there’s plenty of room on the top for a bike / ski / luggage rack. Being a Toyota, they have that legendary Toyota reliability. They are cheap to run, using regular gasoline, and being rated at 30mpg hwy / 25mpg city. Also, they are very safe, with a 5-star rating for front impact, and side impact getting 5 stars for the driver and 4 stars for the passenger. This would make a great first car and would be excellent for someone that is heading off to college or that has an active, outdoor lifestyle, but truthfully, it could fit most people’s needs. I am selling this car on behalf of my father since he does not use the internet. This car belongs to his small, used-car dealership, and because it is less than 20 years old and is not Maryland State Inspected, it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. If you are a Maryland resident, please do not bid. This Toyota Matrix is almost 10 years old, and has almost 149,000 miles on the odometer, so it is not perfect, but it does appear to have been very well cared for. The 1.8L engine runs smoothly, has plenty of power, and gets great gas mileage. It does not smoke or make any unusual noises. It does not overheat. The next oil change is not due until 150,156 miles or on 02 / 7 / 2014. The automatic transmission shifts normally through all of its gears, without any hard shifts or slipping. The car feels solid on the road. It handles well, the steering is smooth, and the brakes are great. There are no rattles when going over bumps. The seating position and steering wheel are very comfortable. I have sat in rush hour traffic for 1.5 hours without having to fidget around in the seat to avoid a sore back / butt. The interior of the Toyota is in very good condition, and has just been detailed. There are spots on some of the pictures because it was raining when I took the interior photos after getting the car back from the detailing shop, they are not spots on the fabric. The black cloth seats are comfy and supportive, and do not have any tears or fading. The dash is clean and does not have any cracks. The carpets are in good shape too. The power door locks and windows all work fine. The heater is great, and makes the car nice and toasty. This car has A/C, but I haven’t tested it, since it is cold outside. All of the interior electronics work, as well as the exterior lights, wipers, windshield washer and defroster. The dash gauges all work, and there are no warning lights showing on the dash. An aftermarket Pioneer Mixtrax stereo system has been installed that has a CD player, AUX jack, USB port, and is set up for hands-free mobile calling through its built-in Bluetooth. The exterior of the car is clean. The silver paint is in good condition and there is no rust, but there are a few small dings and scratches here and there that are expected for a car with this age and mileage. The tires have decent tread, and the car just has regular steel wheels with hubcaps. This is a no reserve auction, so this car will go to the highest bidder. I have described the car as best as possible, but would recommend that you come have a look and take it for a test drive if you are going to bid. I have driven a lot of used cars with over 100,000 miles on them over the years, and in my opinion, this car has been taken care of well, and is in very good shape for its age and mileage. However, that is my subjective opinion. If you are used to driving newer cars with much lower mileage, your opinion may be different from mine. So please, read the description fully, examine the super-sized photos, ask any questions, and come see the car in person before you bid. If you buy the car sight-unseen, don’t show up and start kicking tires and nit-picking little imperfections. I believe that if at least 2 bidders come see the car, they will be in a bidding war against each other at the end of the auction, so I welcome prospective bidders to come check out the car, just please give me at least 24-hours notice so that I can adjust my schedule to meet with you. If you wait until the last day it will probably be too late. This car is less than 20 years old, and has not been MD State Inspected, therefore it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident.
