Vehicle Detail
This is a remarkable Triumph. It was purchased new in 1967 by the original owner and just ridden from his garage a few weeks ago. It was purchased in 1967 at Joe Sarkees Triumph in Sacramento and lived its life in Berkley and Sonoma counties. It has been lovingly cared for and had a complete engine rebuild 6000 miles ago. The bike has not been restored but has its original paint and patina. She is sitting next to a Bonneville in my garage that has been completely restored and this bike gets more looks and comments from my friends. There is nothing like original. If you know your Triumphs you can see a couple things that are not original. The front fender from the factory and the bike had low pipes from the factory. A friend of the owner dropped the bike on a test ride back in the 70's and the front fender was tweaked and one pipe scratched so he replaced the fender with a factory alloy fender and replaced the pipes with the high pipes you see on the bike now. I do have the original pipes, but I do not have the original fender. This T100R Daytona is, of course the Two Carb model 500. The points ignition was replaced with Boyer Bransen electronic ignition and the headlight was replaced with a sealed beam unit. I have the original parts from both upgrades. The chrome is in remarkable shape, the aluminum is in remarkable shape and the paint has the perfect patina. Waxed through in a couple of areas but beautiful. She still has the Made in England sticker on the petrol tank. The bike starts on the second or third kick when cold and starts with one kick once warmed up. She goes down the road beautifully. It seems to me that the steering head bearings are a little lose but it is only becuase I have been riding my restored Bonneville and I notice a difference. The bike is current with the CA dmv and has a current white CA license plate that is valid and up to date. If a CA resident wins the auction I will also include the original CA black license plate with the sale. Filling out one form at the CA DMV will make the black license plate legal on the bike again. It is actually quite simple. The extra wires you see under the seat are for a battery tender that I have on the bike. I do have the original tool tray for under the seat as well, it is plastic and the mounting holes have enlarged so it will need a little massaging but it is here. All electrics work as they should and the brakes are in good shape. Tires are in fine condition as well. As any questions, I have set a very reasonable reserve on the bike but there are not a lot of bikes like this out there...they are only original once. Best of luck.On Dec-22-13 at 05:17:40 PST, seller added the following information: Please note: An alert ebayer gave me a tip about the 'loose' feeling of my steering head and I simply tightened the steering damper knob a turn! Duh...In any case, the steering head feels tight and right now. Thanks!
