Vehicle Detail

SORRY No palm trees in the background, No beautiful girls on the fender. Not even a fancy showroom.Just a really nice 1961 Corvette.Bought from a relatives family along with a few other cars. Why am I not keeping this beauty? I;m 6'5" and close to 250# to stand and look at it is not fair to the guy that can enjoy it a little.283/270 Motor Dual Quad Carter Carburetor set-up Dontov High Proformance Cam w/solid lifters Positraction rear-end 57,100 miles GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT TO YOURSELF!!!!!!!!Completely restored,, this is arguably true correct car by any ones standards, the numbers on the car's tag and motor all correspond with the VIN and the date codes on and about the engine including the carburetors and distributor, somewhere along the line the motor was more then likely "decked" "shaved" overhauled, what ever you want to use when the number on the block "shelf" is not readable. Back in the day people weren't so anal about the numbers, just gear-heads working on their cars....to bad someone take something like that and makes a big deal about but thats what it is and although some may not agree I will not stoop that low to make numbers appear. Honestly those numbers might just be under the engine paint and it would not suprise me if in fact they do exist. For the record the engine numbers forged located on the rear of the motor are "drivers side 3756519. The forged numbers located on the rear of the motor on the "passenger side" JT140. The distributor number 1110891 and the carburetors. numbers Front 261 3S Rear 261 4S All indicating that the car was an early production car #2170 out of 10,261 total cars produced.. So you can question or argue all day long about the "shelf" number but all the proof is there that this is the correct motor for the car.Now the the part everyone should agree. This is a extremely nice example of a 1961 corvette, the paint is superb and chrome bright with no machine swirls or sign of rechroming, glass is clear and without blemishes, the interior is again in remarkable condition, with one small exception, the passenger grab handle has a slight "curl " on the left edge of the leather that could be repaired with little cost, if your that fussy. The pictures should give a pretty general idea as the the car overall condition. Mechanicals are also in A+ condition with no issues.Along with the car is a beautiful hardtop with storage cover.PLEASE............ IF YOU DISAGREE WITH MY SUMMATION ABOUT NUMBERS, I'M ONLY GIVING MY OWN OPINION. For those of you that are interested in possibly purchasing this car please contact me with any and all your questions or concerns. I will do my best to answer you as accurately and honestly as I can. This car belonged to my late brother in-law" and avid collector" who purchased the car from his collector friend 10 years ago, the car has a owner history for thirty+ years in the state of Florida. Please do not ask my reserve or if there is a Buy it Now Price ATTENTION BUYERS OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATESPrior to putting a bid in, consult with all shipping regulations and cost to ship to your country. It makes thing a lot easier at auction end. On Dec-14-13 at 17:15:52 PST, seller added the following information: ADDITION TO LISTING I have had several emails asking for photos of the undercarraige and numbers which I tried to include in the listing but cannot add them to my listing. I will have to ask those interested to email me so I can send them to you via email.... Thats the only way I will be able to get them to you. I would like to explain a few things about the car and the owner. This car was my brother in-laws and he was a active and avid Corvette Club member in Florida. He cherished his corvettes especially this car. Every weekend rather then playing golf, he would be showing this car. He literaly had a room in his home filled with trophies and bags of dash plaques he earned while showing this car, You may say he was obesssed. I for one feel if it's a beautiful day, I'm driving the care and enjoying. Trophies don't impress me much but thumbs up do! He did drive the car to and from car shows all around Florida so what you'll see is a uncleaned, undercarraige but respectable. Hopefully this will answer most of your questions. I did not mention the convertible top.....it's as new with a rear window clear and blemish free. The numbers on the block"shelf" I mentioned in the orginal listing regarding the absence of numbers. I did remove the engine paint on the shelf and found unreadable numbers with the naked eye, buy they are there but I can not make them out.I'm a former cop and asked a couple of my old friends about "rasing the numbers and their experience is that if Fry's reagent solution is used by CSI type of investagations to "raise " numbers off of filed off gun numbers and chop shops but once used my cause lasting damage on the metal. So it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. With that I do feel that the numbrers were not purposely taken off and was caused by a speed shop or where ever engine work was done at the time. The old timers agree with that reasoning.
