This is a re-listing. Buyer 1000 miles away said he was confused...I just told him I am easy to work with...especially during this holiday season, so just in time for someone's Christmas...I have a nice blue 1989 Volvo 740GL Station Wagon for NO RESERVE auction. This Volvo has a good, always Texas-based, heritage. First year for GL: leather, heated seats, sunroof. I have the clear Texas title in hand, properly signed. Texas inspection is good through 04-14. This curbside classic just turned 25 years old with a build date of 9/88. NO RUST. Suspension is stiff, steering and braking is precise. Volvo's longest running engine, the "red block," is strong and the transmission shifts properly. Never runs hot. SINCE PREVIOUS LISTING: New Alternator, New Harmonic Balancer. There is still some extra vibration accelerating and over 55 mph... not wheel bearings...may be mounts or rubber bushings... runs very quiet at idle and at lower speeds. No leaks, no smoke, no pets. Leather seat bottoms on front are repairably worn and cracking but seat-backs are good. 6" tear in rear seat bottom 60% side behind driver. Dash has a couple of cracks but generally the instrument cluster, lights, and console are good. Original carpets front and rear are good, but faded and need a good detail. Door panels and thresholds are good, except drivers lower panel is broken and needs to be properly reattached. No cup-holders anywhere! Locking glove-box. Center armrest is good. Headliner is clean. Interior and exterior lighting is good. Manual sunroof does not leak and is taped closed. Appears to be all original car except left front fender replacement, painted black. Odometer stopped around a year ago. School teacher-owner continued to drive it until a few months ago. I bought it from her mechanic. Mileage is exempt. All glass is original Volvo, windshield has crack. Clean engine compartment and under-body. Belts are fresh, except no AC belt. Matching tires are 90%. Spare and jack look never used. Central locking, radio/cassette, horn, power windows work properly. Rear wiper works, front wipers do not come on. Heat works, AC does not blow, compressor seems frozen. Passenger vanity mirror lights up, and heated seats work. Exterior chrome and original paint is good, except hood and top is heavily faded. A few dings and around-town small dents. That's all I know, except that this Volvo should drive anywhere. It gives a good solid, safe feeling. It is not pristine and can be driven "as is" like I have done, or you can make it exceptional with some appearance and parts $TLC. The rattan picnic case shown at the end (#23) of the 24 pictures is a part of this auction and goes with the spirit of this Volvo, a true classic in the making.
