Vehicle Detail
There were only 5,600 1969 Dart GT's built with the 235 six cylinder in them. That's 1,100 fewer made than the Dart GTS that year! Yes, this car is quite a bit more rare than a '69 GTS! This 1969 Dodge Dart GT was originally sold on October 3, 1969 and delivered to Oceanside, California. In the 70's the original owner moved to San Jose and that's where the car spent its life up until I bought it. The car is currently registered and has a clear title. The blue plates on the car are the original plates issued to the car in October 1969. It is very rare to find a blue plate 1969 CA. car. I can still see the original and very very rare pale yellow 1969 year sticker under the month decal, which is where they put them (left side of the plate). It's the first decal ever stuck on the plate. I can also see the original orange 1970 sticker on the right side (first sticker stuck on there). This car is such an early blue plate car that not only does it have its original 1969 registration sticker, but the license plate number starts with a ZERO and the first letter is an "A". That makes this one of the first blue plate cars ever. Most first-year blue plates only have 1970 stickers. Only a few (literally a few) came out with both 1969 and 1970 stickers ('69 on the left and '70 on the right). This car is one of those few. Aside from being one of the first blue-plate cars ever, it's also one of the very last 1969 Darts ever built. It's #85,776 out of the 86,400 built. Only 674 more 1969 Darts were built after this one. This car has a mere 72,399 miles at this exact minute, though it will probably pass the 73,400 mark by the time it's sold. This is an original B5 blue car with its original B3/B5 interior, all the way down to the carpet. The car is 100% numbers matching. Everything on the car is original to the car from the day it was built except the tires, paint and radio. It received its first repaint 2 years ago. Door jambs, underhood and inside trunk were not repainted. The body is straight and the finish of the paint is very glossy! The paint is a 9+ out of 10 with only minimal flaws in the form of a few very small chips, only visible upon closer inspection. When I say "a few", I really mean it. Very tiny and not in obvious places. Easily fixed with fingernail polish (dab on, let dry, polish if desired). You could have the chips fixed in probably 3 minutes. There was only one small rust spot (1" X 3") down low. Now repaired. The trim on the car is in absolutely excellent condition with no visible flaws whatsoever in any of it. The headlight bezels are near perfect. The grill is absolutely flawless. The taillight housings are also nearly 100% perfect with shiny, uncracked lenses. The bumpers are 95 to 99% mint. Not a single ding at all in the rear one and only one tiny ding (almost completely invisible) in the front one. The chrome on them is excellent. The car is factory undercoated and is 100% rust-free underneath. I looked it over everywhere and it all looks great. Wheels: I DO HAVE THE CENTER CAPS TO THE CAR! You will receive the original center caps. They are in excellent condition. They were removed to paint the wheels (almost the only thing I have done to the car). I was going to switch the caps with the ones on my other Dart because I thought my others were better. So I put the wheels back on the GT without the caps because I needed to move the car. Then I decided not to switch caps because I would have to take the wheels off my other car (the caps bolt on from the back). Besides, upon closer inspection, I see that my other caps are no better after all. If you'd like pictures of the original center caps for the GT, please ask. Again, you WILL receive all 4 original center caps. The trim rings are as close to flawless as you will see for original trim rings (not repros). No dings or scrapes or any other visible flaws. They are perfectly shiny. The vinyl top is 2 years old and is perfect. The interior is all original and in very good to excellent condition. A minor 4" seam split in the driver's seat, as shown. There is a very small flaw on the passenger's seat (about 1/2"). The carpet is also original and in very very good shape! There are no rips or holes in the carpet anywhere. I forgot to remove the mat on the driver's side for the picture. If you'd like a picture of the driver's side carpet, please ask and I'll send you one (or two). The carpet is very nice, even on the driver's side. Apparently, the car has always had floor mats in it. In fact, the car had mats front and rear when I bought it. I removed them for the pics (drove the car to take pics, which is why the driver's side mat is still there). The headliner is 100% perfect and original. The visors are mint. The package tray is perfectly flat and in great condition. No speaker holes or any other damage. No moisture has been inside this car, that much is obvious. Nothing is even remotely warped and I see no sign of surface rust on any bare metal. It's all still shiny silver. The interior smells 100% clean. No odor of any kind. Still has a hint of new car smell. Same smell as new, just not as strong. The center console has never been out of the car and is firmly in place. The ash tray and compartment door operate perfectly. The shifter operates just like new and the chrome is perfect. The wood grain shows signs of slight use, but not abuse. Still in very good condition. The chrome in the interior is very shiny and free of pitting and scuffs. The dash pad has 2 cracks in the usual place. The original dash paint is excellent with no chips or scratches. Instrument panel is excellent with everything working! Temp, speedo, gas gauge, wipers, cigarette lighter, heater fan... all work perfectly. When the tank is full, it registers full. If it's half full, it registers half full. I've had it touching the "empty" line and never ran out. This all tells me that it's either the original sending unit, or it was replaced many many years ago, when they were still USA made. Good luck getting the non-USA ones to work right. I've had no luck with them. The original radio is the only thing missing from the car. There is a stereo system installed. It works perfectly. The speakers are located under the sides of the dash. Nothing is cut up at all! The stereo fits in the original spot without modification. In the picture, it is not clicked in all the way. It does click in and stay. It removes with the click of a button (which I pushed and left sticking out by accident). The speakers are attached using factory holes (one per side). Not even one hole was drilled in anything to mount the speakers. Kick panels are perfect. No speakers in the package tray. As expected from a Dodge with only 72K miles on it, the engine runs great. It doesn't miss a beat. Not even a tune-up needed. The trans shifts firmly with absolutely no issues. There are zero leaks! There are no odd squeaks, rattles or any other noises. The front end is tight with no play in the steering. No rattle noise or loose sound or feel when going over bumps. All front end bushings look new and perfect. There is an issue with the power steering. Although it is extremely easy to steer either direction with your pinky finger, the steering wheels will naturally begin to turn right if you let go. It's not the alignment, it's the power steering. I have had no issues keeping it straight with one finger. The brakes are manual but work extremely well! Almost no wear whatsoever. The tires are brand new. When I'm driving this car, it sounds and feels like new. Not to mention looks almost brand new. I drove this car almost 100 miles without the gas gauge moving at all. You can drive this car almost 500 miles on a tank full of gas. It gets absolutely incredible gas mileage and is amazingly dependable, as all Darts and Chrysler products tend to be. All of the windows in the car are 100% flawless with not a single scratch or chip to be found. They all roll up and down with ease. The chrome trim and all brightwork around the windows is perrfect. Door and trunk seals are great with no issues of leakage. Wing windows operate and latch perfectly. Rubber is perfect. The original jack is still in the trunk, attached as new and 100% complete, as well as the spare tire/wheel. Even the original hold0down nut is still there with the original pressboard tire cover. The board is near perfect with no nicks or warpage. Original trunk mat is in place but has tears here and there. The original gas cap is there and perfect. The rear panel trim on the car is 100% flawless without the slightest dine whatsoever. This car was obviously babied and very very well taken care of! An incredible, all original, un-tampered-with car. You just don't see these come up for sale very often anymore. The more I describe it, the more I want to keep it. If I didn't have a V8 version, I would not sell this car.
