Vehicle Detail
Yes, yes, you've finally found the perfect motorcycle for your gear-headed needs. If you're reading this, you obviously know the incredible rarity of this bike; so, I won't get into the technicalities of why this motorcycle is so reliable, and why this is the perfect time of the season to buy my bike. A 1989 GB 500 that has around 10k miles. I just professionally serviced the bike at Sportland Motorsports in Champaign, IL around July, 2013. When I bought her, the bike was a classic barn find, not running with no title. But, the bike was in relatively great condition with no rust (aside from surface rust). I had the carbs professionally cleaned, and the petcock completely replaced. I had an oil change, oil filter change, new battery (shorai LFX14A5-BS12 which was $120, but completely worth it because they last forever), and brake fluid changed in July this year as well. The toughest part was the tank. There was all sorts of dirt and rust in it. I used POR-15 and rattled the snot out of the tank, and now it's completely clean, and I now wield some extremely muscular arms. For the title, I just did the classic Vermont loop-hole and it is now registered to me (perks of the insane DMV laws of our country). As for the condition of the bike I'm going to be very honest, it runs very well. I would be comfortable riding it any distance. The furthest I've ridden her was 120 miles from Champaign to Chicago with no issues. It does take a little coercing on a cold day, but after it runs it has no issues. This reliability is thanks to the bulletproof RVFC SOHC single head engine. Cosmetically, it does need a little work. When I bought her, she came with a dent on the right side of the tank and road rash on the exhaust tip. There's a small amount of rust on the exhaust as you can see in the pictures. But, I think he laid it down again because the left side clutch bracket and mirror are broken. Both tail lights are broken. Although it is not pictured, I do have the seat cowl, I just don't ride with it because I know how rare it is and I don't want to ruin it. So, that will be included in the sale as well. Bar end weights are missing, probably from the fall. Other than that, this bike is awesome. All the parts I just mentioned cost less than $200 to fix everything, and it's super easy to install. I will include oil, a cafe racer windshield, a large HJC switchblade helmet and gloves, 2 sets of keys, the coveted owners manual, and a beer. I tried to be as thorough and honest as possible, so please bid with confidence. You're getting an extremely rare bike that will take one day of tinkering to be 100% at a low price. Ask me if you have any questions or specific pictures you'd like to request. I do ride this bike everyday, so the miles will increase incrementally. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO BUY. This listing has NO RESERVE, so please only bid if you have the funds and plan to BUY, don't waste my time or money PLEASE!!! If you're a respectable man, I will also be respectful of your time. Winning bidder must pick up or set up shipping. I will of course be as helpful as I can. You must pay a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction close. And the full amount within 7 days of auction close. I also have the bike up for sale locally and reserve all right to end the listing. Thank you! God bless.
