Vehicle Detail

1972 AMX - REAL AMX - original 304 V8 Manual Stickshift Car! Nice RUNNING project! Motor is correct 304, but may not be numbers matching. Starts right up and runs good. Trans needs some work, but will move and shift enough to load on trailer. Replacement transmission is included. Most likely will need clutch as well when refurbishing trans. Power Disc Brakes (front) and Power Steering car. Dual Exhaust, original manifolds, non-AC car. Double-pumper Dual-feed Holley Carb, elec & manual fuel pumps. Hurst handle shifter. Mach II L60 -14s on Cragars. All original sheet metal body has had some section patchwork in qtrs, - can be redone if re-doing the car. Solid framerails, solid trunk, solid shock towers. Floorpans have some patchwork - probably would suggest a full-pan replacement to be good. Paint needs redone (faded) - originally Blue on Blue car. Most of the body trim is there - fair condition with some dings, front valance needs replaced (replacement included), bumpers are pitted and would need redone. Grille is pretty nice, no missing 'teeth/sections' in honeycomb grille (grille is rare and worth quite a few dollars in itself). Rear spoiler nice. Fiberglass & metal hood. Original Dark Blue 'Velour' interior is in nice shape for it's age - no rips/tears/stains. Door panels and dash are pretty nice. Will need new fabric on the headliner. Other than that, complete interior. Nice start to a winter project - good running motor, good interior. Replace trans and go through brakes/susp etc and you have a driver. Hasn't been 'driven' in some years. Take the body and paint where you want to go with it. A little bit of work, have a nice driver for not much money. Full restoration needed for the 'next' level. Selling As-Is, please ask questions instead of assuming. This isn't being sold for a lot of money, so don't expect a high dollar purchase - it needs work! Will help load or work with transporters if having transported. Don't miss out on a REAL AMX! Very reasonable reserve! On Nov-06-13 at 19:26:49 PST, seller added the following information: To try to clear up confusion (including my own!), I have been told by AMX enthusiasts that this is a Javelin. I am going to assume this is a Javelin with an AMX package? There are far too many AMX items on this car to have thought anything other than that this was an AMX. I did read up on some of the enthusiast forums and the '797' in the VIN should be a '798' to be a "Real" AMX. I apologize for any error, it was not intentional, I bought this car years ago under the impression it was an AMX since it was plastered everywhere as an AMX. I would think that if someone were trying to deceive it would be during a restoration to 'clone'/'tribute'/'recreate'.....this been restored in anyway except a color change decades ago. Take the photos and information as you will - whether it be a Javelin with an AMX 'package' or a Javelin with 'real' AMX items. Again, there was no ill intention in my wording - since there is a bid on the car, I cannot edit the listing, only add to the description as I am now. Please bid accordingly. Thank you!On Nov-07-13 at 18:12:16 PST, seller added the following information: WOW, WOW and WOW.....I have received a BOMBARDMENT of emails concerning the AMX/AMC/Javelin debacle. I am a Mopar guy and not well-versed on the AMC ins and outs, and have been pretty forthcoming with that. I thought Mopar enthusiasts were fanatical with numbers/verification - I think we've met our match with 'cousin' AMC guys. I have received conflicting opinions - some nice guys and some real 'not' nice guys. Please, just take it for what it is - it's an AMC, it's a Javelin, it's got AMX parts.....I don't care at this point if someone wants to tell me it's a Matador or a Chevy. It is what it is - a very reasonable running project - that's the VIN#, you decide what it is. Sorry to be so harsh, but seriously - I have never received this much flack and feedback on ANY car that I have sold over the years (mostly Mopar). Please limit emails to ones that involve you being interested in bidding/purchasing the car, that's all my inbox can handle right now. Thanks for the interest and the education. Good luck in bidding or just looking.... Thank you.
