Vehicle Detail

Up for Auction is my 2002 BMW X5 3.0i with FIVE SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. More Photos at: https://plus.google.com/photos/102124127884609762265/albums/5941043341392808129 Video at: http://youtu.be/9T4oFNQODt8 Note that in the video, I was estimating the mileage when various parts were installed. See the SERVICE HISTORY below for actual mileage numbers. Thank you. This is a FIVE-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION MODEL. This is a unique car, as few manual X5's were made. This model has the Sport Package with 18" wheels, body colored door handles, the slate gray two-tone interior, and NO AIRBAG SUSPENSION. If you know about X5's, you know this is a plus - the air suspension is a PITA to maintain, particularly when they get older. The sport package also included HID headlamps, which are very bright. I had the polycarbonate lenses polished at Wal-Mart a few years back, and they are pretty clear (not yellow like your Dad's toenails). The color is Topazblau, which is a very pretty blue. The car looks nice in the photos and videos, and is what some would call a "20-foot paintjob" - it looks great from 20 feet away or on a digital camera (used car salesmen here on eBay know this all-too-well). But it is 12 years old, and there are some rock chips, small scratches, a small door ding or two and a scratch on the front bumper. See the video for more detail. All cars look nicer on eBay than in real life, FYI. The interior is a dark gray - actually a two-tone dark gray leather with a dark (black) headliner. It has real wood accents. The front seats are both power. The driver's seat has three position memory that stores up to three driver's positions, including seat, rear-view outside mirrors, and steering wheel. The engine is the tried-and-true reliable M54 3.0 inline six. This is a great engine, very strong, and very easy to work on. By the way, if you are bidding on this car, be aware it is a 12-year-old car with over 150,000 miles on it. Either be handy with tools or know a good independent mechanic. BMWs are not for the faint of heart. If you thought buying this car was a "cheap way to get a BMW!" then think again. On the other hand, if you are the kind of person who loves and knows about cars, this may be a good deal. I am being honest here - having owned five BMWs, particularly older (10+ years) BMWs. Again, I am trying to be honest here. I don't want unhappy buyers. Check my feedback, I have sold a number of cars and trucks and boats (all personal vehicles) here on eBay over the years and have had no negative feedback! The car comes with a trailer hitch, and yes we used it to tow a small 3,000 lb Casita travel trailer. Again, I am being honest here, and not trying to hide anything. I have some pictures of the X5 towing the Casita on my photo link. It actually is a good tow vehicle! It was wired for a brake controller, but the brake controller has been removed. The wiring is still intact, however. Here is the X5 in front of the BMW Zentrum in Spartanburg, SC, where it was made: I have kept up with the maintenance on this car over the years. At the 100,000 mile mark, we replaced the fuel filter, MAF sensor, DISA valve, electronic thermostat, serpentine belt, water pump, cyclone separator (and hoses) and primary oxygen sensors. Spark plugs were replaced at 85K miles, when I replaced the valve cover gasket. We also changed the "lifetime" fluids in the transmission and differential with new OEM fluids. The front and rear differentials were changed with Mobil-1 75W90 fluid. At about 130K, a new alternator was installed. A new battery was installed shortly thereafter. The radiator and brake lines have been flushed regularly since I have owned the vehicle (see service history below). We change the oil regularly. It does use a little oil. I believe there is a slight leak (I cannot find the source, but I see a drip or two on the garage floor) and it may burn some. But not more than one quart every 1500 miles or so. It is 12 years old. At about 130K, we replaced the front axle shafts and did the whole front suspension - struts, control arms, bushings, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, etc. New brakes and rotors (and front brake hoses) were installed and a four-wheel alignment was done. The brakes work fine, but once in a while, they squeak when you brake in reverse, particularly if the car has been sitting a while. The tires are Yokohamas AVID (P255/55 R18) and were installed at 125K miles (see service history below). They appear to have about 10-15k left on them. They have been recently rotated and balanced (11/1/2013) as they were vibrating a bit. The car runs smooth, now. The original navigation system died (pixels went bad - and it had a cassette deck, if you can believe that!) so I replaced it with a Pioneer Avic Z2, which has bluetooth, navigation, DVD player, a 60GB hard drive (to store music) iPod interface, etc. It is a nice installation and even the steering wheel controls work. (Note: In the video, I was unsure of the size of the HDD on the Pioneer, it is 60GB. I have the installation and user's manuals printed out and in a three-ring binder in addition to the 3" 3-ring binder with the service history and all receipts (including the original window sticker). The playback is through the original H-K amplifier and speakers. It is a great system, and I will miss it! It also has a BACKUP CAMERA (see photos) which displays your rear view when you put the car in reverse. This is a neat feature to have! We bought a new truck to tow our camper, so the X5 has to go. The car has a built-in garage door opener, which can be programmed for up to three garage doors. This came in handy when we had two homes (one which had a remote-controlled gate). There is also a sunglasses holder in the ceiling console. The rear seats have power recliners, which can be adjusted from the dome light enclosure, or from the rear of the vehicle. Frankly, I never understood the point of this, other than it was a "me too" option because Mercedes offered it. The rear seats recline about as much as a coach seat on a commuter airline - which is to say, not much. The rear windows have retractable shades. They are a little worn, as can be expected with an older car. The rear windows also are pretty darkly tinted (factory). Comes with some spare parts (coil, serpentine belt) as well as some accessories, including a hatch bag (lines the hatch so when you load things in there, it doesn't get the carpet dirty), a BENTLEY service manual, and a PEAKE code reader (the latter two essential if you want to own a BMW). Also includes some oil filters and the oil filter socket. I do have some leftover BMW "lifetime" fluids for the transmission and transfer case, as well as some BMW blue coolant. We just returned from a 6,000 mile trip to Wisconsin and the UP, and it ran great, other than needing a new ignition coil. Last year we drove to Montreal. Before that it was Labrador and Newfoundland (a 10,000 mile trip!). So we have enjoyed this vehicle a lot. Comes with two keys (which have remote fobs built in). One was bought when I got the car, the other a few years ago. Yes, BMW keys wear out, and they are expensive to replace. These two are still fresh. As with any car, I highly recommend a test drive, as you can see for yourself what the car is all about. I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. See the links above for more pictures shortly and a link to a YouTube Video as well. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! SERVICE RECORDS: The first records are from the BMW dealer and are coded in BMW's secret code numbering system. I have decoded as many as I can from online sources. For some reason, the first year's service record is missing. This car was in a front end collision about a decade ago, when the first owner had it (I am the third owner). It does not show up on CaxFax, but it is apparent that the hood and fenders were replaced, and I beleive the radiator as well. The accident appears to have been minor, as the car has run well in the interim. Again, I want to be honest here! Normal 0 PROVENANCE: 1. Here is another video of a low-speed road test which is being uploaded to YouTube right now: http://youtu.be/CCCvinp3tuc Another video to follow shortly. Someone asked which airports are nearby. We are about an 45 minutes North of Jacksonville Airport (JAX) which is a nice airport and there are cheap flights there. Happy to pick you up there or deliver the vehicle within 100 miles or so of Brunswick, GA. We are heading South to Ft. Meyers Florida on the 19th of November, and could deliver the vehicle anywhere along that path. Thanks for looking and good luck! NOTE ON PAYMENT: I do accept VISA and MASTERCARD through my Merchant Account. Due to the rampant fraud with Cashier's checks, I would need to have a copy of the check in advance of delivery (scanned in) and some photo ID and the name and phone number of the issuing bank, to check on the validity of the check. I am sure you can appreciate why. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! On Nov-04-13 at 05:43:31 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry, the YouTube upload bombed.
