I’m selling my 1974 GT550 that I bought in 2009, it has 27,522 miles on it. Since I’ve owned it I’ve replaced the steering head bearings with tapered rollers, clutch, clutch springs, petcock, rebuilt the front caliper, front brakes, o-ring chain, sprockets, speedometer cable, tachometer cable, and clutch cable. It’s also equipped with a grab bar behind the seat. It’s a good running bike that I put 1K to 2K miles per year on. All the electrics work with one exception. The electric starter will occasionally spin free, if you let up and press the button again it engages. The chrome is in pretty good shape but does have some minor pitting. The front tire is good, the rear tire is almost gone. It may have 500 to 1000 miles left, it also has a very slow leak. The seat is ripped in two places. The inner right exhaust pipe rattles because the internal pipe section separators spot welds have broken and they are loose inside the pipe. The top left exhaust pipe cracked, I had it welded but it cracked again. The gas tank has a scratch on the left side and the fender has a small dent. This spring it had an oil leak somewhere under the motor, after riding it a couple of times the leak stopped. I can only assume it had a gasket that dried out. This is a good dependable daily rider. It can be seen in the Howell Michigan area by appointment. It’s also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it’s not bought.
