Up for sale is our 1965 Dodge Polara 500 four door hardtop. It has a big block 383 engine producing 315 hp with a 3 speed automatic transmission. This car was purchased from Downtown Dodge in Atlanta, Ga in 1965 and owned by the original owner in Rome, Ga until 2009. We purchased the car from the second owner in May of 2012. We have the original title from 1965, owners manual and a majority of the service history. The odometer shows 89124, which we believe to be accurate based on the condition of the car. The car is in remarkable condition given its age. We have found no rust on the vehicle, and as can be seen in the photos the interior is well preserved also. The car has had one repaint in the factory color of medium turquoise. The paint shines well, the chrome and stainless shows well. The front bench seat was recovered by the second owner, and matches the rear seat very well. The headliner, interior chrome and stainless steel pieces are in very good condition, showing little to no signs of age/wear. The carpet is not significantly faded, but does show a little wear under the pedals. The dash has no flaws, and the steering wheel is nearly perfect. The car has power steering, power brakes, factory A/C and factory rear defrost. When we bought the car, we intended to use it as a weekend cruiser. We sent it to the mechanic, he did a full tune up, reworked the entire brake system and inspected the car. The car was found to be as solid mechanically as it is aesthetically. The A/C system was completely redone and updated by the previous owner. It blows so cold that moisture will condensate on the air vents. The heat works well also. The previous owner also installed a new CD player/receiver located under the front seat; the dash is completely original with the original radio having power. All of the original speakers were replaced without modifying any part of the car. The receiver has a remote for ease of use. The car has four new tires and is properly aligned. No modifications have been done to the car with exception of the ride height and the addition of dual exhaust. The front ride height was lowered using the adjustable factory torsion rods, the rear ride height was lowered using a dodge lowering kit with 2" blocks aluminum blocks and new U bolts. The ride height will be very easy to return to original should the new owner choose to do so. The dual exhaust really helped the engine breath more efficiently. It will cruise down the highway comfortably at 80 mph. The overall condition of the car is excellent, but there are a couple of areas to mention. The rear bumper has a little bit of fading in the chrome. It has a AAA bumper sticker from the 60's, I did not have the heart to have it re-chromed. The rear driver's side fender, behind the rear wheel has a couple of scratches. (see photos). The oil pan gasket is seeping, I will include a new gasket with the car. The car is in great shape, but it is not a #1 car. It is a car that is in very good condition that is meant to drive. You are bidding on a 48 year old vehicle!
