NO RESERVE! $1.00 Starting Bid! 1999 VW Golf VR6 2.8 Liter V6, 5-spd manual, Fast! Lowered, Coilover suspension. Cat-back Exhaust, Tinted Windows. This car needs work. Runs and Drives but needs TLC. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1999 VW Golf VR6. This car has 137,535 miles on the odometer, and it is showing some definite wear for its age and mileage. It is a decent car, but has lots of little things that need to be fixed. If you are a VW enthusiast, or looking for a fast hot-hatchback to fix up, then you will be interested in this car. If you are looking for a car that is perfect, and does not require any work, this is not your car. I am selling this on behalf of my father. The car is owned by his dealership. This car has an aftermarket suspension on it that is lowered. It also has dark window tinting on all of the windows. It will not pass Maryland State Inspection with these things on it. Since the car is not inspected, it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident who will take it out of state. If you live in Maryland and / or have a Maryland driver's license, you cannot buy this car, so please do not bid on this auction. If you are not a Maryland resident, you can buy this car, and if you organize insurance coverage, you can get a 2-month temp tag for the car as well. This car has a surprising amount of power with the 2.8L VR6 engine, and the torque from the V6 makes a lot of that power available in the lower RPM range, so this car is heaps of fun to drive. The clutch feels good, and the 5-speed manual transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly, without any grinding. The previous owner installed an FK-automotive coilover suspension kit. This appears to consist of coilover shocks in the front, and rear shocks with separate springs. I can tell that this system is height-adjustable, but am not sure if the dampening is adjustable too. The car rides pretty low on this suspension, and with the 17” wheels and 225 / 45 / 17 directional Cooper Zeon tires, it absolutely hugs the road, and feels like it corners on rails. An aftermarket cat-back exhaust system has been installed that gives the engine a nice, aggressive tone when accelerating, but is not obnoxiously loud. The brakes work well, as you would hope. The engine does not overheat, the lights and wipers work, and the heating system works. The car has A/C but it blows warm air. The exterior of the car is OK. It looks like there has been a respray at some point, but the paint looks decent. The grill has been changed and the VW badge has been removed. All of the windows have been tinted and are very very dark. There is also a VW roof rack installed on the car. The outside door handle on the passenger's door does not work, so you have to open it from the inside. The hood safety catch has been broken and then jury-rigged, so it does work, but is a little awkward to use. The interior needs work. It is in below average condition I would say, but could clean up with some attention. There are driver and passenger airbags. The interior is a bit dirty. It looks like the previously owner had a big stereo system installed and then removed it. The driver's door panel is loose, and the interior panel just behind the driver is loose, as well as the trunk panel on the same side, and there are some loose cables in there that probably went to an amp. The Sony Xplod headunit comes on, but does not produce any sound, so it may not be hooked up to any speakers. There is also a crack in the dash fascia. I have been driving this car daily for about 1 week, and it is definitely one of the most fun cars I have driven in awhile, but it does need a lot of things fixed. I will list all of the problems I have found as follows: The engine has a slow but steady oil leak, and it also needs a tune-up and feels like the fuel mixture is running rich. If you mash the accelerator to the floor, the engine feels like it loses some of its power, and develops a “miss” in one of the cylinders. If you roll the power on smoothly when accelerating, the engine does not miss and has plenty of power. The check engine, airbag, and ABS dashlights are all on. It has the typical VW sloppy shifter, and so probably needs new shifter linkage bushings. When turning at full lock, I can hear one of the CV joints clicking. As I have said, this car needs some work. It would be a good buy for a VW or hot-hatchback enthusiast. It would also make a great autocross racer with all that torque. It is hard to accurately describe the overall condition, so my advice would be to come and see the car before bidding. Please do not bid first and cry later, it is a waste of my time. If you are a Maryland resident you cannot buy this car because it is not inspected, so please do not bid. This car is sold “as is” with no warranty. I may stop the auction if an adequate offer is made by a buyer. PLEASE READ: This car is not MD State Inspected. It cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. If you are a Maryland resident, do not bid on this auction. Payment is to be made in cash. Paypal and Bank Transfers are not cash, cash is physical, paper money. A $100 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction's end. This can be paid through Paypal. The remainder is to be paid in cash at the time of pick-up. Bidders with zero or negative feedback must contact me prior to bidding – I will delete your bids otherwise. Do not send me angry emails when you bid without contacting me, and then find that I have deleted your bids and blocked you from further bidding on the auction. This car is sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY. Please examine the supersized photos, and contact me if you have any questions. Serious bidders are welcome to come see the car, just give me notice ahead of time so I can adjust my schedule. Since this car is being sold by a dealership, if on arrival for pick-up the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance for this car, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The car must be picked up within 1 week of the end of the auction.
