This is a lovely little car. It is not a kit car! It is a factory built Intermeccanica Speedster. She was built in 1977 and is titled as a 1961 VW. She uses a freshly rebuilt 1600CC dual port vw engine with dual carbs and a centrifugal distributor. that is tuned perfectly. The car has just gotten some interior attention with new carpets, freshly covered seats and door panels. It also has a new Hartz cloth convertible top and Toneau cover. The Speedster still has her Nardi steering wheel from Intermeccanica and all the badging has been changed to oem porsche badges. It is just a joy to drive and eveywhere you go people give you a smile and a thumbs up. This car is rock solid dependable and can just fly in the twisties. It has been in CA since it was built by Intermeccanica in 1977 as shown by the Original Blue CA license plates. Take a look at the pics and bid on this car. It is an absolute joy. You will learn a great deal about this car if you take a look at the Intermeccanica website. Go to the US site and you will see that this car is a remarkable replica of the original car. Again, it is not a kit car built in someones garage but a factory built car intended to be safely driven with a great deal of fun. I don't know what else to say this is a simple car that is quite remarkable. It is simple to work on and all parts are readily available. The wiring and all systems have been done very well, not a hack job in any way. It looks to me like the car still has its original paint from 1977. It is a great off white color and the Mobil decal really sets this car off. Looks just like the car James Dean is driving in the pic I have added to the listing. This is a turn key car that you could drive anywhere. I do not have any side curtains for the convertible top so, stay out of the rain!
