Vehicle Detail

This is an original matching number 1968 427/390 hp Corvette Convertible with only 79,000 original miles. The car is very solid and has a pretty darn good body. It looks like a repair was made to the driver's side rear quarter at one time, but overall it is above average. It is a real code 974 Rally Red car and it has new paint. It is not a concourse paint job, but a real good driver quality. The frame is solid, but there is a metal patch on both sides of the frame under the door area that looks like it was done 10-15 yrs ago (see pic). It is structurally sound, but you can see it if you look. The birdcage has no issues. The engine looks to be all original with correctly dated and numbered heads. The intake and exhaust manifolds also look to be original. The carb is not and it needs a rebuild or replacement. If you let the car sit you have to spray a little starting fluid in it to get it started and sometimes it runs a little rough. The engine and transmission run strong with no problem shifting and no smoke. I put some new calipers on the car, but it has no PS or PB, just a 4-spd and a 427. The interior is original and it could use a freshening up. The dash is good and the door panels are okay. It needs carpeting and sill plates. The driver's seat has a tear. The soft top has a torn rear window, but I have a new top that goes with the car. New weatherstripping is also needed. The headlights work, but the wiper door does not and is off the car right now. The tach, speedo and most of the gauges except the clock work. The tires and chrome are pretty good, but not new. Overall, if you are willing to do a little work this is a pretty good car to start with. It is very hard to find a matching number, 427 4-spd Corvette for a decent price anymore, never mind a real red convertible to boot.
