Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 2001 Lincoln Town Car Executive series that belonged to my mother. Mom is thankfully still with us, but she hasn't been able to drive for about a year now; and has finally decided it's time to let her beloved Town Car go to a good home. She has owned Lincolns exclusively since the 1960's, but after buying new every two years for about 4 decades, she bought this one in 2002 with 20,000 miles on it from Bob-Boyd Lincoln Mercury here in Columbus, where she had purchased many others. When she bought this one at 64 years old, she loved it so much she decided it was going to be her last. I'll be as descriptive as I can, I'm very picky so most people wouldn't notice or be concerned with some of the things I'll point out. This car was always lovingly cared for, garage kept, never smoked in, and received regular service; the records for which go with the vehicle. Mechanically, the car is in excellent shape. Just over 60,000 miles from new, it starts, runs, shifts, steers, and rides impeccably. Having driven many of these cars when they were brand new, you'd be hard pressed to notice any difference in the way this car drives from the way they were right off the showroom floor. Everything in the car works as it should; from the windows, to the moonroof, to the air conditioning. The only thing worth mentioning, is that the compressor for the air ride system is a little noisy for a few seconds when the car is first started. We took it to the dealer and they said that it functions properly; if the noise was that intrusive that it could be replaced, but there was no reason to change it out otherwise. That was about 5 years ago, and it has always performed flawlessly... with the exception of the sound. As of a few days ago, this Lincoln also has a brand new battery. As far as the exterior goes, this car looks incredible for its age. Many hours were spent over the years (by a certain son who shall remain unnamed) washing and waxing its football field-like acreage to mom's content. There is absolutely no rust anywhere. It is, however a 13 year old car and is not without a few minor imperfections. There are a few miscellaneous minor scuffs/scratches on the bumpers from mom getting a little too close to the hose outlet / wall in the garage (They don't even show up in these pictures, but I will try to get some up that show what I know of) but nothing that couldn't be remedied by a good detail shop or that takes away from the car's overall condition. I'd call the exterior an 8.5, maybe even a 9 on a scale from 1-10. This car is wearing four matching Michelin Symmetry tires, with about 90% tread life remaining; along with a brand new matching Michelin on the full size spare in the trunk. No, these cars didn't originally come with a full-size spare... this had been one of my mother's demands when she bought a new car ever since the 80's when they started putting in the donut spares we're all familiar with. Accident wise, this car was in one minor scrape in 2003, mom was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight. The damage was minimal, and only resulted in the rear bumper being repainted. The work was done by the aforementioned Lincoln dealer. Interior, again pretty much what you'd expect in a 60k mile car. The leather is soft, supple, and in great shape; with two small exceptions. It looks like the stitching may be loose in about a 1 1/2 inch spot on the driver's seat; right on the bottom cushion, but it is not ripped or torn. Probably a very simple/cheap fix, you may be able to see this in the picture. Also, mom was a professor who just retired in February at the age of 74... Years of putting a bag of books behind the seat has worn a little of the dye off of the rear seat on the corner. This is visible in the picture. The seat is in no way damaged otherwise, and a quality liquid shoe polish would probably have made this problem invisible... but to be honest, it is there... and the new owner can deal with it as they please. There are no cracks in the dash or the center console (or anywhere, for that matter), no burns in anything (Mom & Dad are non-smokers), and the inside matches the outside, with nothing other than what would be considered normal wear for a 13 year old car. All in all, this is a beautiful car that needs nothing but a new owner to love it for many years to come. Now, on to the brass tacks... This car is offered with NO RESERVE. I think the car speaks for itself and I hope that will be reflected in the bidding; this car is for sale locally at $5999. Regardless, the car will go to the highest bidder, and rest assured you're getting a wonderful vehicle. The winning bidder will need to place a $250 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of auction end, with the remainder to be paid in cash or certified funds within 7 days of auction end. Car is located in Columbus, Ohio. I will not make shipping arrangements, but I will work with a shipper if you decide to use one; but the vehicle and title will not leave our possession until funds are received/cleared. We reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is sold locally. Please contact via email if you would like to see the car prior to bidding, have feedback less than 5, or have any other questions. Thanks for looking, and good luck!
