Vehicle Detail

Beautiful 1956 Plymouth Savoy. Car has 55456 actual miles as documented on clear title. Car is a real eye catcher but is not a trailer queen show car. It was restored back in the 1990s by a fellow in Indiana, so it does show some wear. The paint is nice and shinny. The frame, floors, and trunk appear to be in great shape and are solid with no holes. The inner rocker panels were not replaced when restored and are all but gone. The outer rockers are rust and filler free. The only rust spots on the body are a bubble at the bottom of each door. They have been there the whole time I've had the car without growing. (See picture) The chrome is all complete and in good presentable condition. Once again, not perfect. Has rare chrome reverse light pieces. Interior is as nice as exterior. Seats have no rips or tears, dash has nice bright shinny paint, good head liner, and good carpet. Seat has good springs and is not broken down in any way. The car runs and drives, and has been up-graded in many ways. It will need some attention to the turn signal / tail lights. Some work and some don't. I'm sure this is a minor fix. You may want to also go over the brakes, as they work ok, but should be gone over. I had the master cylinder re-sleeved in brass and rebuilt about a year ago. I also replaced the hose from the master cylinder, and the right front brake hose. Linings and cylinders looked ok to me. The horn, wipers, head lights, heater all work fine. The factory am radio is present, but I have no idea if it works or not. The previous owner installed a am/fm cassette in the glove box that does work. The tires are wide whites and with great tread left. They are Bias Ply though, and aren't the best of rides. Now for the best stuff. The car was originally a six cylinder, but now has a newly rebuilt 270 Poly from a 1956 Dodge. It was totally re-machined and re-built by a machine/ engine shop in my local town by a fellow that has tons of experience with engines on the road or speedways. He also grew up with engines of this era. The block was re-machined and sonic checked. The crank and cam were sent out for re-ground. Rods were re-conditioned. Heads were all re-done with new valve job. Pistons, bearings, gears, chain, gaskets, oil pump, fuel pump, and just about everything else came from Egge machine or Hot Hemi Heads. Also has a new Offenhouser 4bbl aluminum intake, with a new Holly 390 cfm carb. New plugs, wires, chrome coil, washable air cleaner, breather cap, ect... Also good original generator and original starter that work fine. Also has new electronic ignition set up from Mopar. New battery as well. New 3 core aluminum radiator that keeps it nice and cool. Engine carries great oil pressure and temps. It is smoke free leak free and runs good. (Not a race car though) New Accel gauges for temp and oil pressure. A new custom dual exhaust system including two new Porter steel pack mufflers is also included. $5k plus in engine alone! Car has a good 2 speed Powerflite Push Button auto transmission, with fresh fluid and filter. I also replaced the gear around the torque converter for the starter drive, as the old one was worn out. It all works fine now and shifts great. I have a few spare parts including 4 additional factory wheels, some old engine parts, and extra trim pieces. Also some shop manuals and a car dust cover. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things here, but this is a really nice historic car, and not a perfect trailer queen. Just a real good driver, that would be a prime candidate for a top notch restoration, if that is your wish. I'm just doing some down sizing and not getting my use out of the car. Please check all my photos and feel free to contact me with questions. Thanks! Car is being sold as is and is for sale locally, and auction could possibly end early.
