Vehicle Detail
1955 Chevrolet 2 dr post straight axle Gasser. This is the real deal. Built back in 1968 and raced in D/Gas . Engine is set back 10% . 4 point roll bar, one piece fiberglass flip front. Ran 12's with a mild small block. I have recently upgraded it with a fresh 427 BBC. engine. This engine is a 454 block using a new Eagle rotating assembly, TRW 12.5-1 forged pistons, New GM H.P. rectangle port heads, Comp. 605 lift solid mechanical cam, Comp springs, retainers and pushrods. Fluid damper balancer. Valve covers are Cal Custom cast polished finned. Block is decked to zero, sonic tested coated internally and drain screens installed. Edelbrock intake with an 850 cfm Holley carb. Mellings oil pump and 8 qt. oil pan, Hooker headers. The transmission is a Turbo 400 built by Astro Transmissions. It has a reverse manual valve body and a 5000 stall TCI convertor, BM ratchet shifter. I have also replaced the drum brakes with 4 wheel disk brakes from Speedway motors along with the front leaf springs, steering arms, king pins, master cylinder, flex hoses and steel brake tubing. The fuel system is all new with an aluminum fuel cell, BG 400 pump and regulator, Fram cartridge filter. Ignition is MSD with a 2 step rev limiter. Gauges consist of an Autometer recall tach, oil and temperature gauges. The radiator is a new Aluminum 3 core with an electric fan and a Moroso water pump drive. Shocks are 4 new Monroe. Rear end is 8 3/4 Dodge with a 489 case. I had the bearing caps machined for Mark Williams billet caps and installed a Richmond spool and 4:30 Richmond gears. Wheels are all new polished aluminum slots from Ohio Willys. The engine, transmission, rear axle, fuel, brakes, springs, steering, and electrical were all new in 2013. I have ran the engine for a total of 1 hr. since completion. I have not taken it to the track but it is ready except for an updated seat belt. The engine runs cool even on a 90* day, pulls real hard and stops on a dime. The frame, body mounts, rockers are all solid and pretty much in the condition they were in back in the 60's. The upper body has lots of decals etc. from a long history at the track. Front and rear glass is original as are the rear side glass. Door glass is plastic. I have put a very reasonable reserve on this car and would easily be put back on the street or is an excellent nostalgia Drag car. This car is being sold as is where is with a bill of sale only from myself.
