Vehicle Detail
Vintage German motorcycle! Boxer engine just like a BMW. Would make a great café custom. This motorcycle was bought by my uncle at a swap meet nearly 40 years ago in mostly the condition it is in now. He did some restoration of the cylinders and heads, but that is as far as he got. He passed it on to my father who passed it on to me. It's been sitting in my basement for nearly 20 years. It is an ambitious project, but would be a great bike once it was done. Do a web search on these bikes and you will see some great testimony. Some of the unique features include a steering damper, shaft drive, and aluminum wheels that are interchangeable from front to back! Not listed in the photos is a hardcopy of a parts and service manual that would be needed to reassemble this bike. What you get is a rolling chassis with the engine block, transmission, and assorted parts in boxes. Mileage is unknown. I have no idea how to ship this, so I am making it the buyer's responsibility. However, I am willing to pack it up and coordinate with a freight/shipping company as needed to get it too you. There is no title for this bike, but eBay requires me to pick something from their drop-down so I picked Rebuilt, Rebuildable, and Reconstructed. In Georgia a title is not needed for motorcycles this old. Good luck bidding! On Sep-27-13 at 08:22:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been told this motorcycle is a rare "EL" or "Elastic" version that was sold only in the US in very limited numbers. The apparent identifiers are the swing-arm and the aluminum rims. As I stated above, the cost of shipping is to be handled by the buyer, but I will do what I can to help with the logistics. The pictures show everything that goes with the bike; I do not have the handlebars, fenders, or headlight assembly. To clarify a point I made above, I do have a hardcopy of a parts/service manual that I am including with the bike, but it is not shown in the pictures. On Sep-29-13 at 20:05:16 PDT, seller added the following information: More pictures added! It turns out there was a box of items I did not get pictures of for the original ad, including the cylinders, gears, the drive shaft, and many other parts. I also got a better picture of the data plate that clearly shows it is a KS601EL VIN number 555234. On Sep-30-13 at 13:55:14 PDT, seller added the following information: For those interested in international shipment I did find at least one company that will do it: Schumacher Cargo Logistics, Inc., www.sclusa.com . They offered Savannah, GA to Bremerhaven Germany for $400US and an additional $300US to pick it up from Atlanta. You want to get a custom quote for you own needs, but this is probably a good starting point. I did not spend too much time on this and didn't look closely at the insurance requirements, but again it is a starting point.
