At that time it has 46,997 original miles and was completely original except for the tires and battery and spark plugs; it had been well taken care of. Everything under the hood was still original from the Windsor plant assembly line – belts, hoses, wires, cap, gaskets etc. The car was given a major tune-up and to this day have those original parts which were removed. This is a numbers-matching car. The only component of the drivetrain not original to the car is the rear axle gear set. In 1997 I stripped all the body trim and the interior out and had the car painted and the bumpers rechromed. At that time the car had some bodywork to address what was fairly minor rust in the usual lower panels areas and light damage to passenger door around the door handle; the car was generally clean and straight due to low miles and it being well kept from day one. The car wears that paint today and most of the trim including the vinyl top is still original to the car. In 1997 I also had the radiator recored with a 3-row core. About 10 years ago I replaced the windshield and obtained a reproduction PPG piece that was custom stamped with all the correct original manufacturing marks and logos. About 8 years ago I had the exhaust system replaced and installed NORS Y-pipe and new manifold heat spring. Approximately 5 years/5,000 miles ago the car went up on blocks for a major mechanical overhaul/freshening. At that time I rebuilt the front of the engine including new double roller timing chain and gear set, front seal, water pump, fuel pump and all rubber lines; original carb rebuilt, original alternator rebuilt, new rad and heater hoses, repro wire set; installed correct 1969 Kelsey Hayes single piston front disc brakes: new heavy duty one-piece rotors w/ integral hubs, NOS tee, repro line set front-to-back, new hoses, rebuilt master cylinder and calipers and also completely rebuilt the rear brakes and upgraded to the larger 11x2-1/2 backing plates and drums (new NAPA Gold premium drums); pulled the axles and had a set of NOS 3.23 gears set up & installed by a professional gear shop (all bearings and seals in carrier were replaced new), replaced all axle shaft bearings and seals; replaced front and rear U-joints; replaced transmission output shaft seal, filter and pan gasket; completely rebuilt the entire front end with all NOS or top-quality aftermarket parts including ball joints, tie rods and steering arms; replaced torsion bar front bushings and real seals/spring clips; new rear load leveler shocks and NOS HD front shocks; new tires all around. Approximately 3 years ago I installed most of the optional equipment on the car. 95% of what I installed was with all NOS Mopar parts that were obtained from all over North America, over a period of collecting for several years. Anything that I have installed is done in the way the factory did it, with the correct parts, right down to clips and screws. You would be hard pressed to tell what has been added to the car. When the power window and door locks were installed, I removed the interior of the car and the doors and glass to do the job properly. All window motors, switches, relays…anything electrical was installed as NOS. All wiring harnesses were sourced from parts cars, taken apart and repaired as necessary and then rebuilt and retaped with the correct cloth material, and then installed in the correct factory way. The doors were reinstalled and carefully aligned, as were all of the windows. The NOS SuperLite lamp assembly is as rare as hen’s teeth. I have installed a new battery – summer 2013. This fall I installed new ignition points and condenser. What makes this car unique is the color scheme. While the X9 black paint is uncommon, the ‘crown jewel’ of this car is the incredibly rare H4S Silver vinyl interior. This was a one-year-only offering that was only available in Canada on the Dodge C-body line. It is the same color as the very rare “Pewter & Black” trim color found on ’69 B-Body Roadrunners. Also found in US market ’69 Plymouth Furys as “Platinum”. I have only ever found one other ’69 Monaco with this interior color, and it was in a Monaco 500. I am confident in saying that you can probably count the remaining cars in existence with this color scheme, on one hand. What is more incredible is that the interior of this car is completely original, including the headliner and the carpet (which has been redyed), and is in remarkable condition. Condition Mechanically this car is solid and reliable. The engine is strong and has plenty of power, especially at highway speeds where it carries itself with authority. The 3.23s are the perfect gear for this engine for all around performance. It returns decent gas mileage on the highway. The exhaust smells a bit which leads me to believe the valve seals & guides have wear – but bear in mind that other than replacing the timing chain the engine has never been apart. It does not blow smoke. The oil gets changed way more often than needed and is always clean at service. The rear main seal has had a very slow leak since the day I owned the car – but I have never added oil between changes except when running it on the highway for extended trips. Transmission equally fine with clean shifts. Trans has a minor nuisance leak which is possibly the input shaft seal – other than at fluid service changes I have seldom had to add trans oil because of this leak. The brakes are strong and stops are confident. If anything the upgraded 2-1/2” rear brakes -which they put on wagons- can be a bit too much if the car is not loaded and you make panic stops in the city –they will lock up before the fronts do, but they excel on the highway. Front discs are the best upgrade I have done to this car. Steering is predictable and tight. Overall the driving is confident in both city and highway driving. A real pleasure to drive and is a dream for freeway travel and comfort. Three years ago I took this car on a 4-day 2,400 mile road trip out to the Canadian Rockies and back, and it didn't flinch or give me trouble once. No driver fatigue after 12 hours of sitting on a sofa cushion on wheels! Absolutely everything works on this car, including the SuperLite and the Cruise Control which functions flawlessly (which is uncommon). The only glitches to report are: left fender-top-mounted turn signal indicator which occasionally does not light up, and the radio reception in the FM band which at times seams weak – possibly the radio trim needs to be set up. Also the passenger door window motor runs a bit slow going down. In regard to the body, the paint is still in excellent condition- glossy, no thin spots or weathering…because the car is always garaged and seldom driven and almost never exposed to the elements. This is not a show car with a perfect mirror finish- has some minor blems- dings, imperfections, stone chips and scratches, cuffs, swirl marks etc you'd expect from driving. There is a small, shallow crease on the roof, about 12 inches long, above the passenger door. There is a nickel coin-sized ding in the back of the left rear quarter and the moulding below it is also marked. The body mouldings have road rash/wear where they turn into and fit over the wheelhouse panel lips. Some isolated areas of superficial rust dots/bubbles beginning to emerge (paint not broken) in the rockers- possibly old repairs coming through after 16 years. Bumpers are excellent – the rechrome has really help up well. The rest of the body trim is completely original and painted side trim has been maintained/redone; overall very good and straight. Some of the tail light trim is NOS as are both door handles. The vinyl top is original and still good, some weathering beginning to show but I keep it dressed with a vinyl top protectant and it is presentable. Driver's seat cushion and back have a few seam tears about 4-6 inches long. The inner doors and front quarter skins are clean and were sprayed with a rust protecting sealer, the last time the interior was out of the car. The rubber and weatherstripping throughout the car is good – no dry rot. I have had the interior of the car completely out on two occasions (save for the dash and headliner) and I can tell you that the floors and doors are so clean you could eat off them. There is little to no rust inside this car in the floor, in the doors or front quarters. I think I have found a total of 4 build sheets in the car – two under the floors and one in each of the seat assemblies. One is still in the car. I also have many small pieces found under the carpet from the assembly line – anything found was kept and documented. I also found a folded quality control check sheet folded up in the passenger quarter panel.Battery shown in the engine bay is a modern Group 24 battery with a retro "topper" cap to give the appearance of a period-correct mopar battery.Included with the car are a 1969 Dodge Sales Brochure, Owner’s Manual, Shop Manual, any documentation I have amassed in ownership, and original style floor mats.Buyer has option to receive car with its original spare tire/wheel as pictured which is more for looks than functionality; OR, a 1969 dated coded matching wheel that has been sandblasted and power coated, and mounted/balanced with a modern tire matching the street tires. This restored wheel has never been mounted on the car for driving though the tire has some use.**Buyer will have the opportunity to purchase an inventory of many NOS MoPar parts I have amassed over the years including body trim, lenses, weatherstripping, mechanical and electrical parts - including hard to find items - tail lamp trim, cruise servo, SuperLite lamp bulbs, etc*****Over 180 detailed high resolution pictures that document this car can be seen on my Flickr public webpage***http://www.flickr.com/photos/98967771@N03/sets/ On Sep-24-13 at 08:55:06 PDT, seller added the following information: International Bidders are welcome to participate in this auction.
