Vehicle Detail
This California native was built at the Long Beach plant in Southern California and this 1954 Ford 2 door ranch wagon was bought new in northern California and has been a one family owned car since new. This car had a frame on soft restoration at some point and was used for local car shows. The car than was put away for some time in in dry storage and was just recently brought out of storage and is back to life. This factory 6cy, Automatic 1954 2dr wagon is a clean driver that is a dry car and is hard to find in this condition. I do have a California title and the vin tag is original to the car. THE BODY- This wagon maintains all of its original sheet metal and it is all in good condition and this car shows no sings of patches or rust repairs. The original floor pans look and feel solid and when looking under the car at the floor pans they all look good. The body braces and rocker panels are also original to the car and are solid with out flaking or pitting they are clean. The rear area in front of the spare tire area is solid and clean for being original and is not soft or rusty and the original shock mounts are intact and are not blown out. The original spare tire well is also solid and is in good condition with no rust or patches. The front fenders are stock to the car and are rust free and are in good condition they are a clean set of fenders. The doors are the same no rust or patches they are in good condition. The bottom of both doors are also clean looking. The quarter panels are also original to the car and are in good condition with no sings of damage or cutting or patching and they are not full of body filler. The back and front window area is dry and clean. The metal dash and the windshield area is also rust free and is in good condition. The roof and rain gutters are rust free and are in good condition. The fire wall and the trans tunnel has never been touch by a hammer or a saw. Over all this 1954 body is great condition the body lines and gaps all look good. The doors, rear hatch, tailgate and hood all shut nicely and the rear hatch stays up on its own.The bottom of this car does not have factory or add on under coating and it is not hiding rust under a bunch of after market undercoating. THE PAINT- The factory white and blue color paint on this car has held up nicely over the years and is a clean respectable driver quality paint job that is not scratched up or nicked up. The chrome and trim was removed when this car was painted. THE INTERIOR- The inside of the car is clean and the color combo is great. The front and back seat are older and will need to be recovered at some point and I have the material for the inserts that match the lower part of the door panels. The head liner is original and should also be replaced at some point. The rear bottom area is super clean and it looks like new also the wood in the rear is solid throughout and the original stainless is clean and intact. The back side panels and door panels are nice and are not wavy at the bottoms they are intact and clean they look great along with the original stainless trim. The carpet is clean and is intact and is in new condition. The dash and interior trim paint is clean and presentable. All the bright work inside the car is clean and is not pitted. The original radio delete plate is intact and is clean. The original steering wheel is not cracked and is in clean original condition. Most all the gages are in good working order except for the fuel gage. Over all the inside of this car is clean and respectable and it wont take much to finish. THE MOTOR/TRANS- The motor is the original stock 223 6cy with a 1 BBL carb that runs good and is dependable and gets 25mpg as per the original specs. The motor is not a smoker and it has good power. The trans is the stock original 2 speed automatic that shifts good and kicks down when it should it is in good working order. When you drop this car into gear there is no universal clunks and it is smooth. The rear end is also in good working order and it does not howl. THE RIMS AND TIRES- The rims are the original rims that are in good condition along with the original spare. The tires are newer and have good tread and are not weather checked they look good. THE SUSPENSION- The front end was rebuilt at some point and this car steers nicely. The drum brakes are in working order and are not leaking but I think they should be inspected just to be safe this car was not in daily rotation for sum time. THE GLASS. All the glass is original to the car and is not broke or cracked and is clean for being original glass. The back sliders work great and both of the latches are intact and they do lock. Both of the side windows roll up and down nicely. The wing windows are also in good working order. THE OVER ALL AND THE HISTORY-All the original electrical in the car is in good working order and has never been tampered with or spliced into. The motor bay and the bottom of the car is original and has not been repainted or tampered with and is not grimy or scaly with rust. This Ford dose not have under coating under the car and still maintains all of its original patina. This wagon was a lady owned car that was bought new in California and this wagon was garaged a lot of its life. The black California license plates look great and they go with the car. The original bias ply tire is still on the spare and the original glove box stickers are also intact. Over all this is a super clean and dry wagon that gets a lot of attention where ever it goes now that wagons are popular people just love this car. This is a super cool affordable classis that wont break the bank and you don't see this type of wagon at your local car shows this is a hard car to find in this condition.
