Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1972 Triumph TR-6 with a 4 speed non overdrive transmission. I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding as I'm selling the car for a friend. I'm not a mechanic or a dealer just a guy helping a friend sell one of his little British sports cars as he is going overseas on 10/01/2013 and won't be back for about a month. He wanted to have the car at a place where it can be picked up after the auction ends so he sent it over to me.. I can send you his contact information if you wish to speak with him directly about the car. I do know he has only owned the car a short while ( he purchased the car the same week he bought 2 MGB's ) and wishes to sell as he now knows he does not have enough room for 3 sports cars. Heritage: This car was purported to him as being a numbers matching car ( one of the reasons he purchased the car ). I have done my research online and believe it to be so but you would need to do your own research to ensure that is the case. The commission number is CC 76069LO, production date Oct. 1971, engine number is CC 84980 UE, body tag# 1 is T6522C and body tag #2 is 77578 CC. Please go to the Heritage-Motor-Centre.co.uk or the International Triumph TR Registry to verify my research as I make no guarantees about this. If you get a Heritage Certificate the value of this car will soar. Mechanicals: The engine starts right up with no smoke, ticks, rattles or shaking. The car is a bit "cold" natured so some choke is required when starting the after it has been sitting for a few days. The transmission and rear end work well and shifts up and down through all the gears with no binding, grinding or noises. The transmission is a 4 speed NON overdrive type. The car will back up an incline without holding the stick or popping out of gear. The brake peddle and clutch peddle are strong and the car stops well. The car was just serviced with new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, new air filters, oil change, radiator flushed / new coolant added and all fluids topped off. The car has new full set of Firestone Precision Touring radial tires and she handles very well on the road ( nice tight steering ). The engine bay appears to very original ( see photos ). Electrical's: All lights and switches appear to be working at this time. The radio lights up but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Interior: Looks to be in overall good shape as seen in the photos. The drivers seat does have some tape on it to cover up a few flaws. Has new Triumph logo rubber floors mats as well. Exterior: The car looks good but I would still call the paint "driver" quality. The previous owner told me friend that he had taken the car down to bear metal prior to painting but in my opinion he had a less that stellar paint job put on the car ( looks OK for a driver ). The soft top is serviceable but the windows are cloudy and I personally would plan on replacing it at some point. The car comes with a new set of the lower trim chrome molding strips that are still in their original shipping tube. Underbody: This area looks good given the cars age and I see no rust holes or patch work on the floors. The frame looks good as well. The car sits evenly and squarely on the ground and does not show any of the dreaded TR-6 "Squatting" issues ( see photos ). Misc: The car comes with a top cover and a tonneau cover. Sorry, no jack or spare tire. Buy It Now: My friend is open to offers and has priced the car to sell so the offer would need to be above the starting price or current bid price on the car. Please understand that I will only use E-bays prescribed methods to close the auction so don't ask me to do other wise. In Closing: Let me just say this is what I would call a "driver" and not a show car. Again, I'm listing the car for a friend and only know what I have stated in the auction about the car. The above description is my observations and opinions and they very from person to person so ask all questions prior to bidding. I can put you in contact with owner if you wish to speak with him directly about the car. I'm not an expert and my opinion of the car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or the extra photos I have available please ask prior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. If you need to have the car shipped to your location you can get a free online quote from Able Auto Transport at: http://www.ableautotransport.com/ .The auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Ronex shipping for free quotes. Please know that listing this car on E-bay is not cheap so you are bidding to purchase the car and must have funds available at auctions end. On Sep-24-13 at 10:06:53 PDT, seller added the following information: All- I failed to say in the auction that the speedometer is not working and that I have ordered a new cable but this would need to be installed by the new owner. Sorry for the miss!
