Vehicle Detail
Solid car, great fuel economy, reliable transportation. (Additional pictures at the bottom of description) I used this car to commute from Morton to Bloomington while I was attending ISU my senior year. I then used it for a year commuting from Morton to Peoria for work before buying a new 2012 Focus in June of 2011. It has since sat in my dads shed and was driven a half dozen times in the winter (Illinois has had some very warm winters so I rarely used it). The owner before me used it as a pull behind on his RV. He was 94 when I bought it from him and told me. I still have the tow bar that mounts to the front bumper and will toss it in upon pick up for an extra $50. This has been the best used car I've owned yet. It's been very reliable for me and is averaging close to 50mpg on fuel economy with my best tank just over 52 mpg. A/C is there but doesn't work. Needs to be recharged and checked for a leak. Heater works fantastic in the winter and the tall narrow 14" tires will go through any snow without flinching. I replaced the stock radio with a Kenwood KDC-MP345U. You can plug USB and AUX into it and it has a remote (may seem silly but I found my self always holding it b/c you can change station/volume/track without ever needing to look down and find the button). All electronics work with the exception of the rear window defrost, seat belts are good, roll down windows work, wipers work, sun/moon roof works and nothing leaks. It has a new radio (2010), new battery (2013), new radiator (2013), new front shocks (2010), new rear shocks (2013), and almost brand new wheels installed. In January 2011 I swapped the engine for another used engine b/c I had lost compression in cylinder 3. The used engine I got was pulled from a 91 SLI with 60k miles. The "new" engine bumped my fuel economy from 44/48mpg to 48/52mpg. I did the swap and still have the old engine, it will be boxed up and listed on eBay as well later in the month. I pulled the carpet out completely and lined the entire cabin with sound deadening insulation. I under-coated the entire car with bed liner when I bought it in 2010 and that has done a great job of keeping the rust down. It's due for another brush down and under-coating though. I also have 13 inch wheels installed instead of the stock 12 inch (but am including the stock 12" wheels also). The car originally just had two front speakers so I added two 4" kicker speakers to the back seat. It's still wired for an amp and sub in the trunk but I have removed the actual units. It's a fantastic car and by far the best vehicle I've owned thus far but I now have a real job, my student loan paid off, and my first real car clean and clear so it's time to liquidate some of the toys for a house down payment. Thanks! Email me with any questions or if you want to see it in person. PICTURES BELLOW Notice: Front bumper drivers side has a black scuff. The paint is rubbed off and that is the plastic showing. Notice: The rear hatch had been replaced by previous owner. Other than color it's a perfect replacement. No leaks or sealant issues. Pistons are new (2012) and hold door open. Notice: Sunroof does not leak and can be popped up to circulate outside air or popped out completely and set in back seat or trunk. Notice: Slight wear and tear on the interior. There is a small cut in the driver seat vinyl and drivers backrest vinyl. Other than that its very clean with minor carpet blemishes. Notice: Passenger seat and carpet is very clean. The glove box latch is broken so the previous owner put a pivot screw clasp thing in. It does the job. The dash speakers were blown when I got it so I dropped some different ones in that I had laying around the house. They are too big but I did NOT modify or cut anything to put them there. If you want to put small ones back in you can with revert it to OEM. Notice: All lights and gauges work. Mileage is 122,773.7 and turns over every 99k. Notice: I installed a Kenwood KDC-MP345U radio and a pair of 4" Kicker speakers in the back seat (there were none stock). It has MP3, USB, and AUX input. Notice: As you can see there used to be duck tape on the shock covers. I took it off and cleaned it up a bit but I think that tape had been there since the 90's! You can also see the carpet on the back seat is peeling slightly. Notice: Engine is clean and does not leak any fluids. Your garage floors are safe. The air conditioner is all there but has never worked since I bought it. I also never tried to fix it either. Notice: All the black you see is under coating spray. It is starting to come off slowly and I would redo it again if I was keeping the car. As you can see there is no rust on A-arms and frame. Notice: Some rust has started on the lower door frame but had wire brushed it and treated it with rust-oleum spray. Should also be under coated again. Notice: Original wheels and hubcaps. On Sep-24-13 at 20:18:03 PDT, seller added the following information:I had a request for front a-arm pics, both sides show some surface rust has started but as I stated before I think the whole underside should be brushed & sprayed again to keep this car on the road for another 22yrs.
