Up for sale is this 68 Honda CL 175 Scrambler in as found barn surviver condition. In dry storage for almost 30 years and ridden only 10,000mi. from 68 to 84. The owner said there was always a little oil pumped in the cylinders once in awhile to keep the motor free and it kicks over freely. He also stated that his dad would osccationally change the oil while stored. I pulled the dipstick and the oil is clean like new. I looked into the engine through the oil hole and it looks CLEAN with no visible rust. It has good compression and I honestly think with a carb rebuild and new points etc. that this bike would start like a Honda should but, of course, no guarantees. Seems to go through the gears well. The only thing I did to this machine was to give it a good soap and water wash to remove 30 years of dust and spider webs, and clean a couple spots on the wheels and handle bars with chrome cleaner to show that there in no pitting on the chrome. The fenders are not perfect with some pitting. The bike was stored without the battery so there is no corrosion damage. The gas tank will need to be cleaned out. A dog chain and kerosene should do the job. There are some dings and scratches on top of it that don't show up well in the photo. Owner said this bike was running when stored. I was surprised to find a huge supply of parts for this bike here on e-bay making this a pretty easy fix-up or restore.
