Vehicle Detail

This is a 1974 B4 model GT750 made for the Japanese domestic market (referred to commonly as “JDM”) and is one of only 1120 ever made. The B4 is essentially the same as the 1975 “M” model released outside of Japan. The bike has an interesting history. It was bought new in Okinawa by a US Serviceman who brought it back to the USA in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s. The bike has a few interesting features unique to the Japanese market: · 1. A red alarm light on the dash next to the ignition, required by Japanese law to light up at 50 mph/80kmh (the light sits in the place usually occupied by the “S” Suzuki emblem on US & European models). · All the warning stickers (decals) are in Japanese. · There is a unique locking bracket which secures the headlight to the left fork ear to prevent the aim of the headlamp inadvertently changing. I have restored the bike to near-original condition with 100% genuine OEM Suzuki parts. The bike is totally stock and unmodified. I had the frame and black painted parts powdercoated. All rubber hoses have been replaced with genuine Suzuki replacements. Carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. Tires, brake shoes/pads & drive chain are new. In the interest of full disclosure, here is a list of items which are not original: Ø Speedo – the previous owner switched out the original KPH speedo for one in MPH. The MPH speedo does not have the additional wiring to trigger the speed warnng lamp mentioned above. I do not have the original speedo, but the relay and frame mounted wiring are intact (under the tank). Ø Gas tank & side covers – the tank pictured on the bike is a replacement I bought on eBay and had repainted. I had side covers repainted to match. I do have the original gas tank but it leaks. I tried to line it but the lining disintegrated. It could be repaired and reused. I will include the original gas tank and side covers in the sale. Ø Front sprocket – JT 15 tooth front sprocket. The standard sprocket is a 16 tooth but this results in the gearing being very “tall”. The 15 tooth sprocket makes the bike much easier to handle around town while still providing excellent cruising ability. Ø Seat cover – the original seat cover was ripped in places so I fitted a new seat cover by PitReplicas. The bike starts and runs perfectly. Everything works as it should. I only use ethanol-free gas. It is 100% ready for the road. I am only selling because I need to make space for my next project. Title is clean (no liens) and in my name. Thanks for looking! On Jul-30-13 at 14:23:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Added 7/30/2013:Today I was asked a question about the mileage of the bike and whether the engine had been worked on. Here is my response:Thanks for the question. The speedo that was on the bike when I got it was a J-Model MPH speedo with 11728 miles on it. As this is not the correct design for the model year, I switched it out for the speedo from my other M model (22,558 miles). This prompted me to dig back through the records I got with the bike. Lo and behold I found the NC State Inspection records from 1977 through 1982. Here are the mileages from the State Inspections:May 1977 - 3447July 1978 - 3552July 1979 - 3640August 1980 - 6798July 1982 - 8359Aside from any KMs put on the bike prior to the speedo switch I believe the 11728 miles to be accurate.Regarding work on the engine, I am not aware of anything done by the previous owner and the service records I have are for minor things. I have not done anything to the engine except replace the cylinder head bolts and spark plugs. The engine runs very smoothly, no oil leaks. No evidence of any water pump issues. Compression is 140 psi on all three cylinders (measured today with my Motion Pro compression checker). Hope this helps!
